I remember the last game of the season we played against Dees (or last home game anyway)... we flogged them by about 80 points and Richo was just horrific - had a stinker.

You may be right about the tagging him but Walsh normally gets 34 meaningless possessions so are you saying Hopper kept him to 30 meaningless possessions?

otherwise i just don't see any reason to make knee jerk reactions in selection after one game

Gibcus will not be dropped, and nor should he be. Needs confidence and is slowly getting it. He looked ordinary in the pre season but has done some little things here and there every game. Will only get better and is our biggest weapon in defence with the highest ceiling. People need to be realistic, he hasn't played in 2 years.

Gray and Trezise can be dropped but Steely has to play every game this year IMO. It's bloody hard to produce a consistent 4 quarter performance in the position he plays, but when he's near the ball things happen.

This is our challenge this year, not go get lubed. We were 18th in the league for pressure and tackling last year, we can't be that this year. We need Mansell, Campbell, MRJ and Green around the edges giving the midfielders a chop out chasing GC's quick mids. McAuliffe might need some midfield time rather than wing, but however we do it, we need to be more accountable. Lefau at least has it, pity about Faull because he has it.

Can't let these games blow out early in the season so we can get a bit of self-respect back. North did it against good teams for about half a season but couldn't keep it up. We have to do similarly.

Watched the game again this morning, and came away with the feeling that our intensity from our premiership dynasty had returned.

We cracked in really hard in the second half and swarmed all over the Blues. I thought Roos, Taranto, Lynch, Short, Ralphsmith and Trezise were massive in their defensive intent and willingness to cover the ground. I wouldn’t be selling Ralphsmith short, when I say he had a great second half. I accept his kicking is faulty, but he runs some miles and one a number of 50-50 contests.

I don’t think there will be many changes to the team. Yze will want to back this group of players in and any changes will happen after the Gold Coast game, if we get spanked.

Prestia and Vlastuin will return via the VFL side and it will be explained in terms of conditioning e.g “they missed a large chunk of preseason and need to get game time via the VFL. The only change I can see us making is Lefau in for the suspended Faull.
