A second straight strong performance to start the year for Jackson Phillips, playing a significant role as his Stingrays registered a convincing win over the highly fancied Gippsland Power. Phillips powerful movement through congestion is a point of difference in his game, and he plays with a physical edge. He found more of the footy this week, though perhaps wasn't quite as damaging by foot.

Every year there are prospects that miss out at the National Draft and use it as motivation to come back better the next season. Oliver Griffin may well be one of those, having put him name in the early frame for the mid season draft. He was impressive in this game, especially early, showing competitive fire and physicality along with the springy athleticism, clean hands and aerial attack to make him a real marking threat.

this is the kid Cal Twomey mentioned on this weeks gettable podcast. Kid looks like a type of player we have historically steered clear of.

If we want to keep moving forward, he is a type we should be looking at more consistently.

gosh if only we hadn't clogged our list up with talls and injured setterfield. this guy gives me real sam durham vibes.

Kodah Edwards was back after missing a week, with a carbon copy of his first game. Once again influential at stoppage and round the ground when deployed as a midfielder and looking extremely dangerous as a forward. His ability to win 1v1s with clever body work is a real highlight, as is his powerful first step to create separation. Similar to week one, he wasn’t always as composed with the ball as you’d like to see.

Wait...

I missed something. Are you telling me we have no MSD pick after Martin's ACL because of SETTERFIELD?!

Please tell me you're joking
Correct. However we had none this stage last year as well, then 4 a few weeks later.

We have holes everywhere.
With Bryan, Blakiston and visentini all listed I would look at midfield or forward 50.
Harry is an imposing son of a gun though.
I don't mind HVH at all, if we're looking at our rebuilt list.
Looking at Freo's talls last night, without considering defenders; Darcy, Jackson, Voss, Treacy and Amiss. I'd say at least three of those are quality talls.

Wright isn't quality and not part of our list going forward. Jury's still out on May, Bryan, Vigo, Gerreyn. Blakiston looks promising but he's 27, so a different demographic. Caddy at the moment looks like the only sure thing as a quality tall.

I wouldn't have shied away from CDT last year and would considere HVH this year. Quality talls aren't easy to come by.

This said, I recognise that we have needs everywhere. Butler projects as our Merrett replacement and we need another quality small forward.

We need to get into the MSD for Griffin.

If you believe Twomey, Rosa was very much into CDT.

Just because he was into CDT doesnt mean hes neverssarily taking NVH at pick 1

It depends on what else there is

Id bank on fixing other areas before rucka nd just soldier through with Bryan and free agents

Last pea heart player we need, but a 3rd rounder for Sean Darcy is a fine price, freo may so no, but they say yes if it opens up cap for Georgiades, Cripps, Rivers, Neale or Warner

Hilarious.

Next month will be the one-year anniversary of our last win and you think this couldn't have been foreseen? In another words, you're saying the club is dumber than 99% of footy fans that predicted a shit year for us?
Where did i say it would be the opposing to a shit year?

Finishing 15th at the moment is shit

Clubs/fans always have bias, imo they genuinly thought there range was 10th -16th

I think even with the new rules id shy away from a ruck

We will be doing a trade with port or Carlton imo if we have pick 1, makes too much sense

Butler, Denver ect
Nup. Hawks worked us over with two half decent rucks. Freo were excellent with two against excellent opposition.

HVH is the ruck forward we need to replace Wright.
