Truly, in all honesty, I appreciate what is an incredible effort!! I even tried to rap it in my head as I tried to wrap my head around it, but I'm just really not made for it.

So it became a tl:dr - not because of anything other than my inability to keep up

But for the Freo by 10 goals and Serong the GA - you get a from me!

To me this comes down to what Yeo and Reid can do, if Young comes back into the midfield he should be able to counter Yeo's larger body.

As long as there's sufficient effort to even break even in the middle our talls should be too dominant with reasonable supply, and our defence good enough to repel.

The away derby in 2024 should be a stark reminder not to be complacent.

I hate that I think of these as danger games. No doubt they throw the kitchen sink at it and they’re nowhere near as shit as they have been. Got some serious players now. Duursma is the real deal and Shanahan could be Treacy good.
Kelly & Yeo always seem like have blinders against us.
Given the level of maturity we’ve shown this year we probably win much like Geelong did. Punch even till they tire & then hopefully put the foot down.

I’m not hugely into hip hop (don’t mind a bit of Immortal Technique), but I respect the artistry and energy in the lyrics.

You did a great job. I love the use of assonance and some of your imagery.

As much as it can be fun to smash these campaigners, it's hard to get excited about it being a genuine rivalry when either team dominates for years at a time. They won't make it easy, but we should be beating them comfortably. As much as it can be fun to smash these campaigners, it's hard to get excited about it being a genuine rivalry when either team dominates for years at a time. I can't remember the last time Derbies were really "must watch" for everyone.

Outside of Ballantyne missing a goal after the siren in 2011.

There has only been 3 derbies under 2 goals in 20 years.

2009 when both teams were bottom 4.
2014 but Freo were up by 20 points with a 1 min to go and let in 13 points in the last 55 seconds.
2018 - First game at Optus - West Coast were always in control in the last quarter and we never bridged the gap to under 6 points in the last quarter.

Probably the most rivalry derby moment in the past 15 years is Gaff breaking Brayshaw's jaw which then had chaos everywhere.

Other then that its been pretty vanilla.

I really want us to put a hard tag on Reid.

1. He does not handle it well.
2. It appears to upset the entire team.

Yeo is a massive in, but surely there is only so much he can do.

Robertson out is a big loss for them. If we break even in the centre bounce clearances we will be fine.

Ross Lyon and his rigid process driven psycology pretty much killed it from a players and club personal hatred perspective and it showed in that 16-20 period where we just never could get that upset win (which is what really drives these rivalries: Upset wins by the lower ranked side). The spectacle simmered and derbies have basically been an utter slog for a decade now save for the rare blip. It didn't help that there was basically no overlap between either side being good or shit. Hell, give me those late 00s derbies when both sides were bottom four: They still had real venom to them.

Credit to West Coast: They're the only side who've made efforts to keep this rivalry interesting in the last decade or so. They pipped us in 2015 during our last premiership tilt. They've taken it on themselves to target us to keep their fans engaged during the toughest period in their clubs history. They're unsociable, unlikeable and downright immature...but that's interesting. Whereas Brayshaw gets belted and, outside of Johnson and Ryan acting outside of coaches instructions and flying the flag, we basically just copped it and "let due process take its course"

Yeah I have been lucky enough to go back and rewatch some of the 2000s Derbies (I was way too young to remember) and the vibe is just completely different, there's a level of hatred to it you don't get nowadays. There's quite a few from around 2003-2007 that really hit the mark.
