My friends in Red and Blue.

I never made it to the Lakeside Oval which is a lifelong regret. The Swans’ first game in Sydney was against the Dees – and Adrian Battiston - in 1982. It was a novelty at the time to see the Dees live on the TV. We were visiting my grandmother’ place at the time. By the time I finally arrived at home, the match was lost, even though we had a good enough season.

Best win against the Swans – Semi Final 1987

Worse Defeat Against the Swans – Qualifying final 2022

Biggest Judas -Gerard Healy. Man we could have used him against the Hawks in 87 and 88

Dud Judas – David Cordner.

By the Rivers of Babylon - Swans by 42 Points

Thanks for the thread and the memories Biff.

Can't be too mad at that.

Our defence is atrocious, but we took it right up to one of the best teams in the comp and kept attacking. Pretty proud of that effort.

If JVR plays next week I will lose the plot. Total liability and should have been dropped weeks ago.

Gutsy effort all things considered.

Feel much better about that loss than I did after the Freo and Essendon games. We were frustrating as hell at times but we still played with plenty of dare and instinct. Sydney are simply a much more polished side and it showed.

I definitely enjoyed that more than the vast majority of our wins towards the end of the Goody era.

With checkers out now i would say he's locked in

Total liability?

Miochek is out and JVR cracked in all day, even if his return was low.

Swans are bloody good. Gave up some easy goals but a great effort to keep fighting back throughout the game.

Disco best of the defenders. Sparrow looked good again. Kozz really cracked in especially in the last.
Roo and Jeffo competed well, albeit a bit goodyball with bunching up in packs.

Chin disappointing after a good start to the year. Kolt butchered the ball from defence. Defence in general very leaky and disorganised.

? I thought he competed really well.

We were admirable in defeat, however, we weren't good enough for long enough. We tried and hopefully we learn a lot out of this. Just wished we were a bit more polished.

Essendon was the low point of the season for me, I hope we don't see that again. I like this lets have a go Melbourne and see what happens.

I said during the week that if we lost by less than 20 points that's a positive, so I'm going to take my own advice for a change and not get grumpy about this match. We did well. If anything it was Sydney who underperformed. We are miles ahead of where I thought we would be this year. Many teams will be dismantled by Sydney this year, and we weren't one of them.
