Agreed, Matt Thomas was another very average player to `win' the Magarey, I doubt he would have won the magoo's version of it back when it was a genuinely strong competition, and as you suggest the recipients in the last 25 years just don't belong on the same list as champions like Ebert...

Didn't see any of it but that sounds like a strong win by the Maggies, and keeping the eagles scoreless in the last qtr on their own dung hill has to add a big plus to the result, it will be interesting to hear from those that attended the game who they thought set the win up for us.

I can't recall anything about Koch and Thomas wanting to retain our involvement in the SANFL under age competitions pieman and have been under the impression a major part of the one club agreement was that we always had to give up our zones which made it virtually impossible to field under age...

I believe nord were given our country zone (the west coast of SA) as part of the one club deal, and what a kick in the guts that was for locals who have supported Port for generations, and Woodville West Torrens got our traditional suburban zone.
