2nds North Adelaide vs Port Adelaide - Trial Match 1 @ Thebarton

Saturday 16th of March. 3:20pm at Thebarton Oval. Free entry.

Pending the injury list: Visentini (Concussion), Charleson (Ankle) should be in line to play. Logan Evans looked to have picked up an injury in the intra club and missed the trial vs crows, so we'll see how that pans out. Narkle (back) might be close to playing this as well. Kyle Marshall (back) also to be assessed.

Since this is a trial, it's likely that we have extra numbers, possibly a 25 man squad.

SANFL listed players yet to appear this pre-season: Nick Moore, Cody Gilchrist, Jake Weidemann, Harry Williams and Dylan Aldridge.

Note: This game is a day before the AFL game, so the sub (EG: Evans) will not play, possible a couple others held back as well.

Maggies Side:
F: Visentini - Scully - Charleson
HF: Szust - Georgiades - Anastasopoulos
C: Clurey - Moore (C) - Lorenz
HB: Sinn - Walsh - L.Evans
B: K.Marshall - McKenzie - D.Williams
R: Sweet - Short - Narkle
INT: Turner - Byrne - Brazel - Baldwin - H.Ferrari - Carter - Chamberlain - Pascoe
EMERG: J.Burgoyne

Predicted Maggies Side:
F: Finlayson - Scully - Charleson
HF: F.Evans - Georgiades - Anastasopoulos
C: Szust - Moore (C) - Lorenz
HB: Sinn - Walsh - Roberts
B: Clurey - McKenzie - D.Williams
R: Sweet - Short - Narkle
INT: Visentini - Chamberlain - H.Ferrari - Turner - Cockatoo-Collins - Launer - Carter
OTHER: W.Ferrari - Byrne - Baldwin - Stevens - Brazel - Cooper - L.Evans - Cheesman - Pascoe - H.Williams - Weidemann - Aldridge

That’s a ridiculously good spine for this level.

Not that it will make that difference in a scrub league built for sloppy footy

Cue the “Inexperienced Magpies downed by Roosters” club match report when they get pumped, despite the fact our side will be chock-full of AFL talent.

That could be the strongest Maggie's line up for quite some time, the best 4 or 5 top ups are decent sanfl players and if the 4 new draftees are up to sanfl standard at this early stage of their careers ( they all showed something in the trial matches to at least suggest they could be) and with the expected improvement and maturity of Visentini, Scully and Sinn, even taking into account the movement of players between the two leagues we could be in for a reasonable season.

It would be somewhat ironic if Port win the SANFL flag, and get accepted into the AFL-reserves/VFL. Watch it end up in the Supreme Court again, in true 1990 SANFL style.

But you are right, that is the strongest and most balanced Magpies line up for some years. It helps when you don’t have 3 rucks and 2 developing key forwards/rucks in your team.

Lol they would probably strip us of the flag and give it to Glenelg.

Prepare to be disappointed. There is a lack of quality midfielders.
Hinkley's ****ed game plan, really relies on dominating the clearances. Even just breaking even will not do. Also it does not give our high quality talls up forward any chance. Slow ball movement, lots of stoppages, most of which we will lose.
And lets not forget Hartlett as coach is one of the most insipid choices from a regime that makes a * of a lot of insipid choices.

Bit concerned about Marshall being listed as starting on the bench. We are supposed to be developing him as a KPD.

Clurey on the other had is apparently playing on the wing in the AFL eventually I seem to remember hearing at one point?

Port should have their priorities right in these games.

Ignore where players are listed.
