In the history of State of Origin football, three teams sent out by Western Australia could be labeled the best ever to wear the Black Swan jumper.
But which team was better?
Is it the inaugural 1977 side which smashed Victoria by 94 points; the 1986 combination that played in the timeless...
Even though the Richmond song is good (especially when the Tigers play finals) it's nothing compared to hearing 95,000 people singing the iconic anthem of Liverpool Football Club in England, before the Melbourne Victory v Liverpool game at the MCG last week, 'You'll Never Walk Alone.'
And still wondering how Brad Hardie won the Simpson Medal despite the fact that Weightman & Royal each kicked 5 goals on him. Didn't the judges forgot about Brian Peake's 7 goals that day?
Some of those State of Origin games between SA and Victoria in the mid 1980s were outstanding to watch, especially the 1984 and 1986 matches. The late EJ Whitten wrote in his Inside Football column said that most of the Victorian players suggested that the 1984 match was the hardest and toughest...
What was the best game from the 1980s? Was it WA v Vic of 1984 and 1986, the 1984 2nd semi between Essendon & Hawthorn, or the Round 20 1981 game between Carlton & Essendon?
Post your thoughts here.
Who was the best player in Western Australian football history?
Is it Graham 'Polly' Farmer, Barry Cable, Stephen Michael, Haydn Bunton jnr, Denis Marshall, Ross Glendinning, Brian Peake, Gary Marlarkey or the modern greats such as John Worsfold, Guy McKenna, Glen Jakovich?

Which decade was the best in the modern-era as far as the talent in football is concerned? The 1970's, the 1980's, the 1990s, or the 2000s?

Watching the 1970 Grand Final on video, I was amazed to hear when the then Channel Seven commentator Mike Williamson said during the commentary that the grand final was being shown 'live' in Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Canberra (there was no such thing as a 'network' in those days, more like...
While I would like to see Richmond win, realistically it's Hawthorn. The Hawks are only starting their period of domination, with the players they have on board. The Cats will still be a good side, however get ready to see Geelong struggle during the course of next season. What we saw in the...
I think this Geelong side is far superior than the one which won the Grand Final last year. In fact, I reckon Geelong could easily surpass that 119 point margin that they did last year, in this year's Grand Final.
Brisbane for mine. For the Lions to win 3 flags in a row in the modern era (ie national drafts, salary caps etc) is a excellent achievement and one I don't think think we'll see again.
One other reason why it might not work would be the 'North-South' divide. Launceston & Hobart are like Sydney & Melbourne-jealous of each other. Instead of Tasmania's home games being played exclusively at Hobart, the Tasmanians & the AFL might have to schedule some home games for Launceston as...
It would be fair to say that Channel 7 has not lived up to expectations so far.And to think before they started covering AFL, 7 decided to cover a Melbourne intra-club practice match as their trial in covering AFL. Fox Sports not only does it have the best Gameday coverage, but also the best...
Thought that the reaction from the two Kangaroos players Shannon Grant & Corey Jones celebrating when the final siren sounded only to find out it was a draw was totally hilarious and very funny. Wait until it is replayed on Brownlow Medal night.
PS BTW, it would've made it into one of...
What you've got to remember is that unlike today, where all of the prospective draftees have their name on each club's recruitment officer computer files or videos, it was more guesswork and a stab in the dark when it came to picking up recruits from those early drafts years.
IMO, if that game doesn't make it into the top 2 or 3 games of an 'all-time best games in Australian Football'-whether it's 50 or 100 games listed or what level if it's AFL or grassroots footy-then I reckon the guy who penned the list (hopefully it's not Mike Sheahan) knows nothing about footy...
