Not a great end to the game there, Dragons> We did the hard work for three quarters but let ourselves down in the last after being the better side for most of the game.
Some good games in amongst our performance with A Swallow, Matt_352 and Strigoi playing well, Bonz had a great debut for the club with six goals while Blaze Storm chipped in with four of his own.
Obviously not a great result in the end but next week presents another challenge in the Swamprats who have been a top side for the last few seasons. Time to hit 'em hard early right from the first bounce.

One of the awards that is issued each season at the Dragons is the Coach's MVP. Each week Coach will cast votes based on who he thinks performs best on the qooty field. Raw statistics, positional dominance and big moments in the sim are taken into account, and Coach crunches the numbers with a complex algorithm (in his head) to deal out 3-2-1 votes. Right now our coach is Dr Phil McGraw, although coaches have been known to be replaced at a drop of a hat in this organisation.
Coach's thoughts:
The Dragons kicked off their season against the West Coast Wonders at Ljp86's Lair, and although we came out firing, the day ended in disappointment.
It started off promising, as a brace of goals each to Bonz and Strigoi helped us to a dominant 27 point lead at quarter time. Three second quarter goals to Bonz then saw our lead expand to 39 points midway though the quarter, before going to the big break 31 points up. Things started to go wrong in the third quarter though, as the Wonders shifted around their players to more favourable matchups. dogs105 got off Pie 4 Life's leash, and the Wonders were only down by three goals by the final change. A seven goals to two domination by the Wonders in the last quarter completed the comeback, and a we went home without the chocolates.
Not the best day for our defenders, with most head-to-heads not in our favour, but there was some diamonds to be spotted elsewhere on the field. Matt_352 was sublime on the wing, with 30 disposals and 11 marks, whilst A Swallow was everywhere with 22 disposals, 8 tackles and a couple of goals. Strigoi (24 disposals, 2 goals, 7 hitouts) dominated the ruck early before being switched into the forward line midway through the game in a rather dubious coaching maneuver.
Up forward there were plenty of heads to be held high, as Bonz kicked 6 goals on debut, ably supporter by Blaze Storm (4 goals) and Ashman OG (2 goals) in the pockets.
Not the greatest start to our Season 31 campaign, but plenty to be learnt for Round 2.

It was a solid week for us in the Round 1 match thread against the Wonders, with 18 posters contributing for 571 posts.
Strigoi fell just one short of a century, whilst Bonz, MC Bad Genius, T2B_ and A Swallow all had busy weeks.
Hopefully we can push towards that magical 20 active posters this week!

The Puff the Magic Dragon Medal is an award that is voted on by all the Dragons FFC players to acknowledge the opposition poster who best dominates the match thread and/or the qooty field. High quality banter, excellent engagement with all posters, and good humour are all taken into consideration. In round 1 the Dragons voters awarded the medal to the Wonders ruckman ArdentEagle!
Congratulations ArdentEagle on being the first winner of the season. You'll be pleased to know that the last Wonders ruckman to win this award joined us at the Dragons a few months later.

Awe shuck Dragons! I'm very honored and a tad hard to be perfectly honest!
It's amazing what creative exploits can be unlocked by a few days in lock down and a bottle of Gin!
I a had a really fun week! Now I'm back at work, not drinking and playing the Bombers...The only way is down I suppose!
