Our sweet spot this season seems to be around the 400-550 posts per week range, and once again we were there with 441 posts from 15 posters. No Chief or Stoods this week, so hopefully we'll see them again soon. We dominated the match thread against the Furies with 56% of the posts, as they got a little flustered by our unique style and disappeared until after the final siren. Some teams are clearly a little meltier than others.
We're currently sitting in 8th for total match thread posts, and 6th for average number of posters per week - which I personally think is a nice place to be sitting. We're also one of only four clubs with 12 or more posters contributing >2% of our posts, which shows a nice spread of contributions. I also see that Strigoi hit 1000 posts for the season, so hats off to her!
This week the Season 31 reverse fixtures continues, and we come across our Round 2 opponents the Swamprats. Our season-high effort of 584 posts was against them first time round, so we clearly get along like nuts and gum. Hopefully we're in for a good week of discussion on junk food and dad jokes. Go Dragons!

How do you feel that your movie lost to Soul in the Oscars?
Hmmm...I don’t pay attention to the Oscars and all that Hollywood stuff. I didn’t even know there was a new Shaun the Sheep movie. I’ll have to check it out! 😁👍 Never heard of Soul.

Next question? 😆

Soul is very good, worth a watch - surprisingly heartwarming.

The Puff the Magic Dragon Medal is an award that is voted on by all the Dragons FFC players to acknowledge the opposition poster who best dominates the match thread and/or the qooty field. High quality banter, excellent engagement with all posters, and good humour are all taken into consideration. In round 12 the Dragons voters awarded the medal to Furies rookie and ruck rover GREENESHOOTS!
Congratulations GREENESHOOTS on the deserved recognition for a fantastic week. You were one of the few Furies who was actually active and engaging throughout the week, and made a good impression on us for when EKA votes get discussed in a few weeks! 12 tackles on the qooty field was also quite impressive, and you didn't give A Swallow an inch. Thanks for the week, and we look forward to seeing you again some time soon.

Cheers mate and to your teammates....
It was a fun week 😁

I've always wanted to know.
Are we Chinese Dragons, or are we Tibetan Dragons or Armenian Dragons...... no maybe Catalan Dragons like the Rugby League team in France, but i don't see the resemblance.
I think it could be Mayan Dragons.

I've always seen us to be Slavic Dragons.

Ljp86 what are we???

In all seriousness, I've considered the Dragon that the club is nicknamed after to be a one of those large, fierce, flying types. Something that is rather intimidating but also free in that it flies around, breathing fire and that type of thing.

Good win Dragons!! That was a rather even contest at the end there after being the stronger side in the first half only to to be challenged in the second half by the 'Rats. To come away with the win after withstanding their challenge was a nice result.

A number of good games this week, MC Bad Genius played very well as did Matt_352, Cold Sober, showed a good return to form while Bradesmaen, Strigoi and A Swallow also contributed well. Bonz continues to produce the goods up forward with four goals while Ashman OG chipped in with three goals of his own.

That was an important win in the context of our season, next week sees us hosting the Demons back at home so we'll need to be on our toes for what will be another big test. :thumbsu:

Go Dragons!! :thumbsu:

Round 13
1620138819739.png
One of the awards that is issued each season at the Dragons is the Coach's MVP. Each week Coach will cast votes based on who he thinks performs best on the qooty field. Raw statistics, positional dominance and big moments in the sim are taken into account, and Coach crunches the numbers with a complex algorithm (in his head) to deal out 3-2-1 votes. Right now our coach is Dr Phil McGraw, although coaches have been known to be replaced at a drop of a hat in this organisation.

1620138881296.png

Coach's thoughts:
After the disappointment of the Round 12 loss to the Furies, we were in dire need of some inspiration to keep our season on track. With a 6-6 record, a loss to the Swamprats this week could have spelt disaster for our season, and likely drop us out of the top eight. KFC rationing and Dragon Island Subway vouchers were no longer getting the job done...but it was from a most unlikely source that our week turned around: fumbler returned! Yes, that's right - the rapscallion that had gone bush in winter last year and never returned came back unannounced to the Dragons and the SFA this week. After hastily naming him into the team (sorry Maylandsman), we turned our full attention to the Rats.

Blaze Storm is making a welcome habit of scoring the opening goal in our matches, and this week was no exception: by the 70 second mark he'd booted our first and we were on our way. The rest of the first term turned into a bit of a scrap, and goals to the traitorous Hatchy1992 and Rats full forward SarahSmiles made mockery of our inefficiency up forward (six consecutive behinds for us!), but Ashman OG appeared with 5 seconds left on the clock to give us a 5 point lead at the first change. We hit the afterburners at the start of the second quarter, and a goal to Matt_352 and a second and third to Ashman OG had us ahead by 23 points in next to no time. But the Rats didn't roll over, and kicked three of the next four goals (Bonz snuck in there with his first) pulled our lead back to 10 points with four minutes left in the half...but we surged on the cusp of the big break, and goals to T2B_, MC Bad Genius and Strigoi gave us a handy 28 point buffer at the long break.
The half time KFC dinner must have been sitting heavy, as we took some time to get going in the third. The Rats kicked the next three goals to bring the margin back to 10, but Bonz started to make his presence known with two goals on either side of an Ant Bear major, and Matt_352 kicked his second to cancel out a FishingRick04 goal...the margin being 15 points at the final change. Nunez kicked a quick goal to start off the fourth and reduce the margin to single figures for the first time since the first quarter, but our defence then applied the handbrakes - and the remainder of the match was a tough slog; Bonz was able to negate a late Rats goal with his fourth of the day, and we finished off 10 points to the good as the final siren sounded.

Bonz led the charge up forward with 4 goals and 6 behinds, but that inaccuracy may be costly in his race for the Fred. Ashman OG (3 goals) and Blaze Storm (1 goal) were dangerous in the pockets in the first half, but their influence waned at the game progressed. Ljp86 (17d, 1m, 1t, 1b) was the standout performer on the half back line as Knifey Spoony, Chief and BringBackTheAnchor all had quiet games.
Pie 4 Life (10d, 6m) was sublime at full back, and limited SarahSmiles to a single goal. Cold Sober (23d, 8m, 2t) was everywhere on the half back flank, keeping Sparkle quiet whilst seeing plenty of the ball himself. HawkAussie (11d, 2m) kept Firestarter goalless, and Stoods (7d, 3m) kept sataris to a single kick in the pocket.
Strigoi (12ho, 17d, 7t, 1g) made good on her promise to Ant Bear pre-game,and took home the chocolates in a powerful display with a game high 7 tackles. MC Bad Genius (24d, 6m, 2t, 1g) continued his wonderful run of form in the midfield, and Matt_352 (24d, 7m, 2g) and Bradesmaen (22d, 7m, 1t) were everyone once more on the wings. It was also pleasing to see A Swallow (21d, 5t) have one of his better games in the guts.

League stats update: Bonz (56 goals) is holding on to second place in the Fred race, but this week's opponent Proper Gander has joined him after a huge 8 goal haul, T2B_ (80) sits in fourth for tackles, Strigoi (155) still has the second most hitouts in the competition and is rapidly gaining on Muddiemoose - she also has the sixth most kicks (147) and sixth most Dreamteam points (1066), Matt_352 (75) has the sixth most marks in the league, second (148) most handballs and second most Exie points (1315). Matt_352 (19) also has the fourth most frees against...closely followed by HawkAussie (18) and Ljp86 (17)!
A handy win sees us with a handy climb up the SFA ladder from 7th to 4th; now with a 7-6 win loss record and a healthy percentage of 107.24%. The ladder is tight though, and although we're only a win off the Gumbies in top spot, we're only a win ahead of the Hawks in 9th! There's four matches to go in the regular season, and we'd be wanting to win at least three of them. This week we take on the snow bunnies from Mount Buller (featuring Tarkyn_24) - they're only a half a game behind us in 7th place, so this one is a must-win. Go Dragons! :thumbsu:

You forgot to mention that the coach put fumbler on to replace that inept serial_thrilla only a few minutes into the game.

fumbler the team player.

😎
And then you in turn were dragged back to the bench in the second quarter. Half back flank = cursed position.

Semantics.
Coach told me i was awesome and i needed to join him for a few cold lagers.

Then when i was half cut someone got injured and i had to go back on for the good of the team.
Was probably Blaze Storm that weakling....... no not Cameron Ling but close.

Another week, another match thread contribution of 400-550 posts from the Dragons: we're a model of consistency. This week saw 482 posts from 17 posters. Stoods is still on holidays, and Blaze Storm went walkabout, but the story of Round 13 was the return of SFA heavyweight fumbler after a lengthy absence. He has promised to shoot up this table, and he's already up to 19th place. Glad to have you back buddy. It was also fantastic to see Matt_352 back in the big numbers, and his 58 posts resembled some of his S30 form.
We're currently sitting in 8th for total match thread posts, and 5th for average number of posters per week - although there are about eight teams in this range. We're also continue to be one of only four clubs with 12 or more posters contributing >2% of our posts, which shows a nice spread of contributions.
This week the Season 31 reverse fixtures enters its third week, and we come across our Round 4 opponents the Demons - Pie 4 Life's favourite...in his 450th game! The Demons are typecast as a bit cliquey and insular, but I've always enjoyed spending time with them and riling up good ol' Tarks. Go Dragons!
