Yep definitely not under rated anymore. Birchall isn't either.

I'd be putting in either Newman, Foley or Mundy

I contemplated Foley, who after his awesome 2008 season has been dogged by injuries, hard to rate someone who is constantly injured, which is why I opted for Newy, who is reasonably durable.

Agreed but Tigers are far better with him in the team and I reckon the win loss ratio would show that too

No doubting that. I just think most of the footballing public appreciate how good Axel is. However, they tend to skim over Newy, who I reckon is more important to our team than Axel.

In no specific order

Josh Kennedy (Sydney)
Andrew Swallow
Matthew Boyd
Nathan van Berlo
Kade Simpson
Nathan Grima
Scott Thompson (Adelaide)
Matthew Priddis
Ted Richards
Grant Birchall

Brad Sewell, watching him play last night in what was a typical no fuss game from him, just doesn't get the recognition he should behind Franklin, Mitchell, Rioli, Hodge among others at Hawthorn

Blair or Goldsack, never get any wraps but Collingwood would be lost without them. Blair's stepped up massively with the loss of Luke Ball and Goldsack is the only forward besides Fasolo at the pies who does any defensive work

if we are all rating the same underrated player isn't that player rated?
Well thats true, but what if the player is better then what we are rating him, even though we are rating him he could deserve to be rated higher thus meaning he is underrated? :p

Going along that theme im gonna say Brad Sewell and Daniel Kerr, both rated yes but they are two verrrry good midfielders who should probably get a little more praise then they do.

NSIS
over rated for sure

Things change from season to season.

Of those I had last year would now only have Kennedy in my 10 most under rated. I regard the guy as the best inside midfielder in the league. Leads the league in clearances and contested possessions for a reason and would be in the discussion as best player in the league if this season is anything to go on.

For me Dylan Grimes, all the Richmond supporters know him and how good he is. But I know lots of people who go for other teams who don't even know him, IMO he has the potential to become a mixture of Fletcher and Scarlett. I think he will get as good as them too. If he didn't get injured this year, I would have had him as the rising star favourite

Might be slightly under rated by opposition supporters, but stupidly over rated by those from Punt Rd. No matter the spin they put on it, he was not an AA lock until he went down with injury. Your post alone shows how over rated he is; a combination of the 2 best defenders of the last 25 years who are also rated amongst the best of all time, yet he's only managed 17 games across 3 seasons (1,7,9). Let him string together a single season before spouting absurd shit like this.

1. Beams
2. Boyd
3. Sewell
4. McVeigh
5. Kennedy
6. Harry Taylor
7. Redden
8. Glass
9. Hurn
10. Scotland

Beams isn't under rated by anyone anymore, starting AA, 2012 Copeland, 19 votes in the Brownlow, being talked up by everyone in the media. Same with Kennedy now too.

Take it a step further, neither are Boyd, Sewell or Glass.

McVeigh is a great call though.

Yeah it was mostly perspective, think of Collingwood, it would go Swan, Pendlebury, Cloke then probably Beams. I think compared to the Cotchin talk Beams should be talked up a little more.

I still think all 10 i selected are underrated to a fair extent.

I also forgot about K Jack had an outstanding year.

Here are some names I think are underrated in no particular order:

Jordan Lewis
James Kelly
Eric McKenzie
Jack Redden
Nathan Van Berlo

Out of the Tigers, Grigg may be the only one who is really underrated.

A mixture of Fletcher and Scarlett and you would have the greatest backman of all time. Terrible call and now you can take Grimes off this thread and add his name to the most over rated players.

From the Crowies:

1. Matthew Wright - Tagger, Small Forward, Ball Magnet can do it all.
2. Broadie Smith - Young gun, Plenty of toe, 60m Kick
3. Nathan Van Berlo - Runs all day, Does the tough jobs
4. Ian Callinan - Smart and Classy
5. Rickey Henderson - Full of talent, 190+ can run like the wind and kick 60. Needs to settle in one spot.
