Weird decision. But look on the bright side...won't get injured. But then again, Serpell still has a chance to accidentally push him down the stairs of the plane on the tarmac.

Was going to say, he probably trips getting into the taxi

As I thought he should have been in the team, now with Tom Brown going down, there can't be anyone ahead of Luke Trainor it's ridiculous he hadn't been in the team. he was easily our best defender yesterday.

Trainor is the one player we drafted that seemed to have had no real niggling injuries from the 2024 draft. yet we aren't getting games into and he is clearly in the best 22.

If he doesn't play the rest of the year at AFL level i'll spew up!

I’ve been harsh on him so far but even though he’s played less games this year than last, you can see improvement in his game. Hopefully he stays in the team now

Played a more confident style yesterday. 10 marks and 2 contested shows he’s playing a role suited to a tall.

There’s definitely been growth in his game and can see how he’s the natural Broad replacement.

Promising signs.

He and Gray are guns. We need one big KPD that can handle the gorillas via free agency or draft one this year now Gibcus is shot.

Gibcus was never going to be that player anyway. Agree with you though, a big KPD is a must especially if Balta is going to play more of a hybrid role. The big, powerful forwards still kill us.

Yes I would be terrified going into a big final against Freos forwards, Thilthorpe, prime J Cameron, Darcy. We would get slaughtered. You need that superstar defender. I miss prime Rance taking out Buddy and Walker etc.

I noticed in the herald sun Uzi interview: all 2024 drafted players got a comment....... trainor got a vague response about the group....... found that odd! Maybe nothing but added to the odd selection/ non selection of trainor. Maybe Uzi doesn't like him?

The fact he's the only durable one out of that soft bunch of pansies means he's leapfrogged the rest in one category

Trainor looked completely comfortable in our backline last game, in fact he stood out with his marking and clean disposal. I'm going early here and saying he will be our best defender in a few years.
That’s for sure and needs to remain in the side. I also don’t believe these stories re him and Yze.

Who knows, it’s a hard one you really say either way because in the same boat he played essentially every game last season

Maybe being his 2nd year they have a higher expectation for him to do those “team things” (off the ball work, structure ect) and he hasn’t quite hit the benchmarks they wanting him to display or they are experimenting a little role wise so they are trying to give him exposed to it in the maggoos as well

Regardless glad he had a decent game on the weekend hope he continues to build off it

He had concussion concerns. Slight kicking issue. Can't see him being dropped.

Really like him in the team. He has completely moved away from trying to play for free kicks which he got into a habit of last year.
His disposal is also very impressive and one of our better users of the footy.

Should play out the rest of the year in the AFL team if fit to do so.

I thought he lacked confidence yesterday and made a few amateur errors, directly responsible for two goals in the first half from ballwatching and letting his opponent run free. First half in AFL for a while as a late inclusion though. Will be a player for sure, just pleasantly surprised to see the positivity in here

The more they show on field the further they fall down the pecking order
