Just for a bit of fun who are some horses that could win the Cup next year.

I will start things off.
Efficient
Mahler
Kibbutz

I'd be very wary of Aidan O'Brien next year. Two good looks with Yeats last year and Mahler yesterday and I reckon he now knows the exact type of horse to bring in the future. Hopefully Kibbutz goes on. Very ordinary Derby field though.

Kibbutz - Up and comer
Leica Falcon - Has been hampered with injuries, EI, would be what I think 7 by the time Cup rolls round but will be as good as a 5yo had less then 10 starts prob!

Mahler won't be back, he'll win some huge races in the UK this year and get 59 plus.
Effcient will get at least 57kg.

The good thing is the 2 year olds this year won't get flogged so we'll have some very good races over the next few years.

Completion may be a chance. young horse by zabeel who should have won on cup day. has had 7 starts for 4 wins and a 2nd. not bad and will only get better.

Was just about to post the same - Completion looks to be a young stayer on the up.

Otherwise it will be whatever is brought back over from Japan.

i have dreams a horse named magonius may return from a tendon injury to win the melb cup. story book stuff. otherwise, kibbutz would be ok.

Next year its gunna p1ss down - subzero like conditions - mudlarks only - you have been warned!!! ;)

Leica Falcon :D

Backed it 2 years ago when it ran 4th and backed it in every single one of it's wins prior.

Then backed it heavily for the next year until it was ruled out with a tendon injury.

And again backed it this year, before the EI ruled him out.

Will again back him again, hopefully he gets there this time.

11 runs for 5 wins and a 4th in a Melbourne Cup (as a 4 year old).

As I Declared Last Year That Efficient Would Win This Years Cup. I Will Now Declare Kibbutz The Winner Of Next Years Cup.

Before efficient, no VRC derby winner had won the cup the year after. Can't see it happening 2 years in a row.

Fiumucino would've given Cups a good shake this year if not for EI.
But providing all that EI crap is well and truly dealt with by then, I think another Japanese winner is a real possibility.

And if Red Lord wins a Melbourne Cup I'll never punt again.

Apparently some nag called Phar Lap came back from his 1929 Derby win and took the Cup in 1930! Still the point stands. Has hardly happened!
