Really shows how poorer season McPharlin has had for a supposed top tier player at our club.

A big well done to Tarrant for turning it around and morphing into a very credible defender of all things....
He has claimed some decent scalps as well this season

Who do we expect to win the Doig, Sandi from Tarrant?

lol, you really take this award seriously!!

I bet you have a big chart in your kitchen with all the players names and award gold stars to those who play well. ;)

If you look through the posting thread the Hill v Suban battle has been very closely fought. Amazing that Suban hasn't had a RS nomination, not that it matters.
Not really. Our supporters continuously overrate his performances to make him look like a superstar, when all he has been is a typical first year player.

yeah, you're right dom. That's exactly what i do.

anyone who wants to take it on for next year is welcome to it.

I'll be disapponted if Paul Duffield doesn't win our award and the Doig. Chris Tarrant and Aaron Sandilands have both been terrific in their own rights, but I feel like people have consistently underrated Duffman's importance, while overrating Tarrant's performances every now and then (not having a go, love the bloke, has done very well but sometimes got a few more votes than I thought he deserved). I feel like 211 can do so much better despite how well he has performed, too.

I'd be extremely disappointed if Duffield won it. He's been good, but not that great. Pav has been better over the season than him.

I think Sandi and Tarrant have been clearly our best. 211 should win it simply because he's more visible on the field. Sandi's second efforts and clearances have again been very good whereas Tarrant has simply been a rock down back and our most consistent player.

I think Duff has had an excellent season, but nowhere near as good as some here have rated it. Gathers a lot of uncontested possession and disposal and decision-making can still be an issue.

They should be the top 3. Broughton has been fantastic too.

I reckon Duff is close to the best kick in the team. He makes the odd clanger because:
He gets the ball so much, law of averages but mainly because he never takes the safe option, always backs himself for the high degree of difficulty kick that has a high reward.
He's not the designated kick in player for nothing.
As for getting uncontested possies well his role in the team is the loose man, rebounding half back and he plays it to perfection. Would be a worthy winner of the B&F and I imagine, a popular one. Was made an example of, took it on the chin, has come from well back in the pecking order to become a key player.
Outstanding season.
Having said all that Tarrant or Sandi would also be worthy winners.

Simon Goodwin playing the same position yesterday. 37 diposals at 97% Efficiency.

He also shouldn't be the designated kick in. He is lazy, one step kick too often and it turns over.

I sit on a flank at Subi every second week and watch Duff kick scything passes of either foot every second week. His vision and the options he takes are exceptional. The vision and the angles he chooses are not so obvious from TV perspective. That might explain how we can possibly have 2 such divergent opinions on the same player.

Well his first 7 weeks of the season were great. Since then he's gone back to being lazy. He has always been a lazy footballer and that is his problem. He goes back to old habits. Since the first 7 weeks his kicking has been rather poor, decision making gone back to lazy and not enough tackling pressure/defensive pressure in the back 50. His kicking is not elite, he doesn't get enough penetration on kicks at times. Who cares about angles, all I care about is hitting targets and he's been bordering on pathetic at that. Dodd-like.

Hahaha I think somewhere about smack in the middle of your two extremes would be where about Duff sits. He can be a very good ball user and he can definitely be lazy too.

Suban back in the lead!

P.S. IP, you might want to bump Dodd up a place :thumbsu:

Great Race between Suban & Hill. 1 point in it heading into the final round.....

Perhaps Sandilands has this in the bag now???? All he needs is a reasonable showing down away at Geelong and he should win it
