NFL 2009 NFL - Week 5

I like the cheesiness of the old Bucs logo more than anything. :D

Besides, nothing is worse than the new Crows logo. We're gonna win this argument every time!

Yeah I just love this guy!

I don't know which is my favourite, saying he is going to smack Chilo in the mouth or calling Bly "Young Blood" and that "he's OK, he's from the hood"

I can't work out if I like the hood call or when he tells spikes "i know you want to party" more. Both great calls. He reminds me so much of Tomlin with his kind of coolness (in both ways of looking at the term) and his methods of dealing with the players. Also, like Tomlin, he is black.

I just watched it again....love how he is chewing out Chilo Racheal with the rest of the oline watching like naughty little school boys hoping he doesn't pick on them.

Also to note that the attitude is having a real effect. Watch for Vernon Davis' positive role through all Singletary's actions.

If Eli doesn't play I definitely wouldn't put it past the Raiders..

Actually even with Manning I think the Raiders have a decent chance of an upset.
Any reason why out of interest? Russell pull it toghter all of a sudden? McFadden becomes uninjured?

Or is it the infamous gut call that emerges whenever one side is violently favoured (ie Tampa vs us 2 weeks ago with our horrible run D, KC vs Philly because Kolb etc etc)

I'm still tipping NYG and given the games this week I'll probably still have them with high CR. But yeah, could say its a gut feel.

I rate Fargas so him and Bush might get the job done if the Raiders don't get blown out early. Bush actually has more yards per carry than McFadden and the Giants run D is average.. So if the Raiders run 75% of the time I think they have half a chance.

Everyone is saying this will be a blowout, my tip: Giants by 7 with Eli. Giants without Eli win in O/T with a FG. :)

Against BETTER rushers/Olines

LJ - 2.9 yards per carry, 18 for 53
Portis - 3.9 yards per carry, 16 for 62, take away the first run of the game, hes 15 for 28 yards
Cadillac - 2 for 8, Ward 5 for 2

Of course we had a huge downer vs the Boys, but is the Oakland Oline anywhere near as big as theirs, and are their RBs anywhere near Barber and Jones? Not bloody close by a long shot.

I don't think it will be a blowout either, thats not what we do. But to say its a decent chance of an upset for those reasons is fallacious.

Romo - 1 TD and 3 INTs/127 yards
Cassel - 15/32-127 yards
Lefty - 7/16-25 yards-1INT
Campbell looked okay when we were playing prevent D (Giving him 60 yards to add to his tally for free virtually) but looked average otherwise.

I love the retro uniforms.
I cant understand why any team would want to change from something very unique and stand-outish to always dark blue or black.
The Broncos 'hawthorn' uniform is just fantastic and should never have been changed. But even the 80's orange strip was do-able.
But then they went navy like every other freaking team, and then you lose that uniqueness.

Same with the Pats red, much better than the navy-silver look.

C'mon, if we're talking about bad retros, lets try the purple and yellow of the packers.

I think Russell may finally go a game without a turnover. If he can just manage the game and limit his mistakes the Raiders may keep with them until the 4th quarter and then who knows what could happen?

All I know is that you're missing Boley and giving up 5.5 yards per carry which is equal with only with the Texas as worst in the league..

Btw, I tipped you vs Dallas so it's not like im a Giants hater. Also have Manning in my fantasy team so I want him to play and play well. :)

Edit: After re-reading your post, had a look at the individual games.. that Yards per Carry stat is VERY deceiving. But hey, I'll stick by my gut feel. :o

If we were actually bad enough to give up 5.5 yards per carry to a normal team, we would be giving up a heckuva lot more than only 117ish yards per game on the ground :p

If it did happen, Giants losing, it would purely be because of the AE gods wanting to **** with people's 3XKO imo.

Just like last year.

if the Raiders run D
and JaMarcus Russell plays well

then the Raiders will win

if only 1 of those happen, it will be the flip of a coin

if neither happen. Giants to dominate.

Can only hope the Falcons defense steps up this week. They were shocking against the Patriots. That and Turner getting his mojo back and I reckon Atlanta can beat the 49ers. Shame we had our bye week so early though.

At the moment, Raiders are all talk. I mean from people like Cable or Russell, who always appear in denial talking about "break out game coming soon" or how they're training and planning really well, how things arent as bad as they seem, etc. All BS.

Instead if you listen to guys like Ellis, Asomugha or a skill coach like Tollner/Marshall/Hackett, they're not deluded. Raiders training ok, but the gameplanning sucks, the execution of plays by key offensive players like Russell and injured OL sucks. Supposed leaders like Russell not leading, instead a DE Ellis having to sit on the Offensive bench to pep-talk the offense. Or questioning the attitude of certain unnamed players there just to get a check, etc.

As much as I can imagine WHY/HOW the Raiders could give the Giants a fight, until they actually stop talking BS and being in denial, and actually win games against teams like Houston, let alone, Giants, then the Raiders wont be turning any corners soon. This includes all the behind the scenes lockerroom politics like Russell still starting, Russell missing film sessions or half-assing it, other players half-assing it on game day tho they trained well, and also trades/acquisitions made in-season to improve the OL.
