Preview 2010 Rookie Draft

With the loss of Medhurst, Fraser and Anthony as forward options, I wouldn't be completely against us picking up Fisher, with our very last pick in the rookie draft.

It's one of the only areas I see us lacking depth in, medium-tall forwards, so a player like Fisher could at least increase our level of depth.

IMO he has about as much talent as Jack Anthony too, I've seen him tear senior games apart, let alone VFL games, he has just been way too inconsistent over his career.

He is only 26 at the moment too, so you could easily expect to get 2-3 good seasons out of him.

I'm not against it, if the options at the "bottom end" of the players pool isn't that strong.

You make some very good point of Reason to take him for Depth Reasons.

Plus we have been good on Turning Careers around in the last 5 Seasons Just Look at Medhurst, L Brown and even Ball

Fisher ahead of Thorpe? Nicholson interesting. Wouldn't be surprised if North picked him up before us though. He would be fighting for a spot on the wing I'd say. Would find it hard to crack into the side in 2011/2012.

Fisher ahead of Thorpe?

Unless Thorpe has turned it around I'd take Fisher over him. Thorpe has a poor attitude and has proven nothing in the AFL. Fisher isn't great but at least he's shown he's prepared to play and can kick goals. Not that I think we should take Fisher, I'm sure Hine knows what he's after.

I dunno about Fisher, I rekon he has so much tallent by looking at the way he plays and moves around the field but playing at Carlton doesnt really give him a chance to show his best football. Maybe, if he came to use he could reach his full potential. Id stay away from him though.

Lets hope, GC pick up Jack with the first pick so we can get a compensation pick and laugh at Fremantle.

Interesting that Tyler Chalwell didn't even get a rookie spot.

I'd read we'd spoken to him on a number of occasions. Perhaps he didn't really want to move from WA and opened his trap about our interest and ended up getting nada.

Matthew Rankine, who's another who had been linked to us, didn't get picked up.

Same thing could have been said about Troy Taylor last year (although we were always gonna have Ball as our first choice). Apparently he went back home to contemplate his future at the end of 2010. The good news for the Tiges is that he returned to the club around xmas.
