Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Is it silly to let go of Didak? Two fairly sub-par performances of 55 and 81... I already have had Tapscott and Darling from the start so I'm unsure as who to bring in.

Forward line currently looks like this: Franklin, Didak, Harvey, Goodes, Higgins, Krakouer, Tapscott (Darling, Richardson, Dixon).

Also - should I do anything to get Dane Swan into my team or persist with Pendles, Judd, Selwood and Cotchin?

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Thinking of doing two trades this week, I've got three options.

Wallis > Libba
Atley > Curnow
Michie > Tapscott

Atley > Curnow will almost be definite, just not sure what I should use my second trade on.

Is Curnow really worth trading for? I haven't seen him play yet... he could be this years Muston!

Tapscott on the other hand DOES look the goods.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

My last minute interstate trades on my phone are coming back to haunt me now...I was planning on going atley to curnow, but I've just realised because I have boyd, montagna and bewick, come round four I'm basically guaranteed a donut (stupid I know) which I would rather avoid. So it looks like bewick has to go and I've just got to hope Ately gets selected and starts getting better. On top of that I have Coad, Otten and B Smith in my backline which is worrying me too, should have kept Heppell dammit.

Yes. He's worth keeping and will eventually come good. That's a good forward line, btw.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Thinking of doing a Franklin to Rioli, what you guys recon?

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

I think you're crazy ;)

Buddy scored 72 in round one with 5 or 6 FA and 2.5, 2nd week scored a ton with similar numbers. When he finally gets it right, he's gonna go BOOM.

Rioli apparently might get looked at i heard too for an elbow or something so might buy you a week before his price goes up.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Looking at trading Atley and/or Bewick out for Curnow and/or Liberatore. Only thing that worries me with Curnow is that Carlton have played Richmond and GC so far, Blues have a bigger tests over the next month, so it will be interesting to see how that effects Curnow's output. Liberatore was the same this week, but still managed a very respectable 73 in a team that got flogged last week.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Bewick or Conca for Curnow.

Happy with everything else so far. Curnow just looks too good to miss out on.

As long as he does the right thing and waits for me to bring him in before going BOOM. ;)

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

I. Smith and Hibberd (both not playing) and Astbury (shit) are my only real issues. Astbury to Otten or a rookie is probably the way to go for me, with Smith possibly getting the flick for Prestia next week.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Big week this week, will definitely have to trade.
Am thinking;
Hayes to Curnow
Nahas to Rioli
That'll leave me with $229,000 in bank and a midfield of;
Swan, Selwood, Judd, Krakouer, Curnow, Swallow (Hibberd, Atley, Bewick)
And FWDs of;
Rioli, buddy, N. Riewoltd, Johnson, Higgins, petrie, Tapscott (Matera, darling, Richarson)

Any thoughts? Atley is obviously a concern but if he is dropped I'll consider jumping on Harris for him after GC 2nd game if need be...*

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Okay no trades used round 1.

Team is as follows

Defence: Gibbs Deledio Grimes Trengove Heppel Tarrant Lower, Duigan Stanley Toy

Midfield: Swan Judd Selwood Pendlebury Boak Foley, Harris Bewick Liberatore

Rucks: Sandilands Cox, Smith Tippet(dual position with Petrie)

Forwards: N Riewoldt Franklin Rioli Goodes Petrie Krakouer Tapscott, Matera Darling Richardson

My original plan was to turn Foley inro Ablett midseason and wanted some points on the board till then. After seeing Harris ton up I am happy for him to be my Mid6 player for a while.

I am pretty happy with my rookie selections which will save me early trades. An obvious one seems Foley to Curnow or another rookie. This will leave me 265000 to play with.

The more difficult decision lies in do I use this cash on my backline this week. I chose Jackson Trengove as a unique who I was hoping to average 80ect. Now I could upgrade him to any backline player other than Goddard leaving a nice team balance of 15 keepers including 4 in defence 5 in midfield 2 in ruck and 4 in forwards.

Corey Enright is very tempting before a price rise. But if I take a little risk and leave the money in the bank I can watch Trengove rise on his current average to 330000 and all Goddard would need to drop to is 590000.

Will be difficult but I may stick with my experiment in Trengove a little longer. Am reasonably happy with my position of 3586 after round 2 considering my amount of keepers and rookie performances. If I do decide to upgrade Trengove to a keeper to add greater balance to the team and backline this week who would everyone here consider the best backline option excluding Gibbs Deledio Grimes who I already have and Goddard who is out of range??

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

curnow is actually a tough one, 91 in round one is solid but a few other rookies did just as well, the 112 is against GC and is therefore difficult to rate. I don't think he is another Barlow, Barlow got 151 and 139 in his first 2 games, I might just wait a little longer with Atley, 2 games is too few to judge and unlike curnow against gc ... atley had to take on Collingwood

I am actually toying with the idea of trading Didak for Pendles, I know in the end I will likely trade Didak back in but he is about to take an 80k hit in price and at the moment I can straight switch them.

Thoughts guys?

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

@MUFCBLAFC
Really good team mate.. Surely would have to be looking at Newman? A consistent premium over the years, the only reason I didn't grab him this year was a lack of Pre-season.
Obviously hasn't effected him as he's in cracking form.

That's if you ditch Trengrove this week.

Curnow scored 118 in round one.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

What do you guys think of:

Josh P Kennedy from Sydney and Jarrad Irons ---> OUT

Stephen Hill and Edward Curnow ---> IN

With Stepen Hill effectively becoming my 5th midfielder behind Pendlebury, Judd, Boyd and Selwood.

Or should I perhaps give Kennedy abit more of a chance. After his form at the end of last year (including finals) I was sure he was due for a big year.

Thoughts please guys?

Cheers

Thanks.

A trade I would have been very interested in was Foley to Swallow (job security very appealing over Curnow, Pittard ect) then Trengove to Newman but was 10000 short. Newman's Drummond like SC to DT ratio (without the same injury risk) is very appealing plus 70000 in the bank is a nice amount to sit there for an unexpected trade ect.

A Goddard coup around round 6-7 is a tantilising prospect but would require luck. St Kilda have a round 4 bye and Port have a round 5 home game against the Gold Coast (St Kilda have Brisbane the same round). I calculate if Trengove averages 70 by the end of round 6 and Goddard 110-115 I would have enough to get him(taking Curnow instead of Swallow for Foley).

Best situation possible for me would be to have David Swallow in for Foley and hope Trengove can average within 35 points of Goddard to swap by rounds 8-10 quite possible. Will labour over it this week.

The Newman now advantage would be points on the board for more rounds.

Surely u have't already traded?! 2.45am Monday morning...

great team. I'd grab enright but as another poster said Newman is a good option now. I'd probably pull the trigger this rd as well

On another note; anyone considering Jude Bolton?

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Bewick or irons for either libba or curnow?

Thoughts?

or i could go richardson to tapscott

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

I am thinking of swapping Smith to get Libba - that means I lose my MPP to midfield, but I think the $$$ from Libba is too tempting. The round 4 Bye comes at the perfect time for him too from a management perspective - I think he got a knock on the knee late in the game though?

My other trade I am thinking of doing a sideways trade Broughton to get Enright. Broughton is going well, but Enright better. I already have Grimes, so there is a clash with Broughton with a multi bye, and to trade Broughton to Enright means I still only have one 'keeper' missing from defence round 6.

Heppell is the only rookie that I would like to get - maybe trade Duncan next week for Matera in the forwards and swap Heppell for either Hibberd/ Buckley?

That would also free up quite a bit of cash - maybe $100,000?

Current team:

B: Gibbs Deledio Broughton Shaw Grimes Lower Duigan (Otten Toy Hibberd)
C: Pendlebury Murphy Montagna Selwood Curnow Harris (Swallow Buclkey Smith)
R: Cox Sandilands (Smith J.Tippett)
F: Sylvia Goodes N.Reiwoldt Franklin Tapscott Duncan Krakouer (Petrie Darling Richardson)
