Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

not sure shuey can keep it up.

my possible trades are
1. atley -> Curnow and bewick-> libba
2. d.swallow-> one of Curnow/libba (any help on which one would be nice) and jolly->cox
3. don't trade

any ideas? not having cox has hurt so far but im not sure he can keep it up, jolly should come good I think but if I want cox this is the time to do it

Re: Libber or Curnow?l

The Bulldogs seem to be in love with Libba, while Curnow has McLean coming through the Ants who will be directly competing for his position, so Libba might have a little more job security.

If I had to choose only 1 I would go Libba

Re: What should I do with $500,000

How much money is it ideal to have in the bank, how long should i hang onto it for?

I have 536,000 in the bank.

Is upgrading a mid priced forward an option now? eg. Richardson for Goodes/Pavlich. Or should I wait?

I am just outside the top 1000 and interested in trying to finish as high as possible.

I have used two trades to bring in Curnow and Tapscot.

Gibbs Deledio Goddard Grimes Shaw Grundy Otten (Lower Duigan Coad)

Swan Pendlebury Murphy Curnow Libba Harris (Buckely Hibberd Mzungu)

Cox Warnock J Tippett Bailley

Rioli Franklin Higgins Walker Krakour Knights Tapscott (Hale Richardson McKernan)

Thank you for any advice/ideas.

Buy a unit in dingley, wait 5 years and sell it for a profit, but seriously turn walker into chapman, other than that i reckon your team looks great

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

1. atley -> Curnow and bewick-> libba it

That's pretty much what I'm doing. I think it's hard to ignore rookies pumping out tons - even if they don't maintain it, their price will still skyrocket in the next month.

I wouldn't get rid of D Swallow. What did he do/not do to suggest he'll be anything less than a really handy player last week?

They won't always get killed by 20 goals. Carlton's midfield IS better than most, so you'd expect a drubbing in there. I think Swallow is still the same good investment he was prior to the season.

the only reason I'd trade swallow is to free up the cash to get cox in

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Hi, new to supercoach and have a question:

My team's scoring ok (2100+) but I want to get rid of Gilbert from my back/fwd line. I'm considering trading him for Gibbs this week, or Rioli next week (though I'm concerned Gilbert's price will drop this week?)

Also, considering trading Boak for Embley. Do people think Embley is going to keep his form going?

I'm completely unsure about Suckling/Curnow scenarios as my rookies are all currently playing.

Thanks for any help.

Gilbert needs 141 to maintain his price this week. Gibbs has a breakeven of 74 which he probably will get. Gilbert will certainley decrease in price and Gibbs is most likely going to rise. What you do is up to you.

Embley is unique but a gamble. Depends whether you want to play it safe in your midfield or take a risk. If Embley comes off it will be good for you because hes not as popular, but if he blows it later on, you'll be wasting trades and money trying to get him out. Again, thats up to you. :thumbsu:

Jolly for Cox

For those SC'ers out there who opted for Jolly over Cox, are any of you thinking about trading up to the big Cox? Or sticking with Jolly and hoping for a increase of form?

Re: Jolly for Cox

Trading thread is the place for this, if everyone starts threads for their own situations then the whole board gets clogged up. Even if the trade applies to multiple people it is still best left left to the trading thread.

IIRC the only players who got their own threads were Barlow (who effected 150,000+ people) & Riewoldt (who may or may not of had one).

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Looking at just going Hibberd-Curnow.

Already got Libba, Harris, Swallow Bewick in the mids so happy with all these guys.

Also, anyone planning on trading Otten? Not sure what to do with him, might hang on another week and see how he goes considering his price change isn't till next week.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

I need to do something about Lenny Hayes and have got about 15k in the bank. Do I:
1. Trade sideways for Boyd
2. Trade down to Curnow and pick up a premium later
3. Do nothing and wait a week for premium players to drop

My midfield currently is:
Selwood, Judd, Hayes, Cotchin, Harris, Krakouer, Heppell, Gaff, Prestia

I've already decided that Im going to trade Mzungu (I forgot to check the teams before round 1 so didnt realise he had a LTI) for Tapscott so only have 1 trade for this week to deal with Hayes

i've got Otten and am keeping him - the only reason you may want to trade is if you don't have Heppell already. i probably wouldn't even trade then

i've pretty much decided on Gamble to tapscott and Hibberd to Libba. i lose my MPP but not too worried about that.

the other things i'm tossing up is sideways trading Gilbert or sideways trading Didak. i figure that i made a plan/strategy and even though it may not be right i should stick to it

going for league or overall?

If going for league you may want to assess what your opponents line up is like? if it's weak and you think you can beat them with Curnow vs a premium then i think you have your answer.

If going for overall you may want to do a straight swap to continue to rack up points.

just my 2cents and i'm no SC expert by any means.

edit; you may want to trade him to curnow and keep the cash then pick up a fallen premium - not sure who b/c you already have selwood... if you think Didak will come good he could be an option...

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

as fozz said theres really no point trading otten after 1 game unless you need to jump on heppell, take another week to see how he goes and take it from there.

i wouldnt trade didak, with his limited preseason there was always a good chance he was going to start the year slow but he should round into some good form in the 2nd half of the year as he really is one of the best FWD options in SC (FWIW i'll definitely be targetting him when hes ripe for the picking).

if gilbert is spending a bit more time pinch hitting up forward (a saints man may need to confirm as i have only seen the last 10 minutes of both sainters games) then he may be a candidate for the chop as really most of his scoring prowess came from zoning off and roaming the back 50 taking marks from opposition kicks and linking up for a few cheapies

on embley, i wouldnt go chasing last weeks points.. 2 good scores against sub par opponents wont help you in the future. i may well be wrong but there are better options

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Is Conca to Curnow a smart idea?

Mids are

Swan
Bartel
Watson
Ward
Liberatore
Harris
Swallow
Conca
Bewick

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

I'm thinking that the amount of money that you will make with Curnow will be a big differnce and help with upgrades later.

I'm considering doing 2 trades this week. Bewick for Curnow and Richardson for Tapscott.

I usually don't like doing sidewasy trades but I haven't traded yet this year and this being the last game for 3 weeks I'm thinking by the time the next league game comes around I'll be able to have enough cash to have upgraded 2 rookies to premiums.

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Yarran > Tapscott ; or
Richardson > Tapscott?

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Well i have Hayes and Evershit so 2 trades need to be made regardless!

I already have Libba/Savage/Harris on the bench.

Thinking Hayes to Curnow and pocket $411,000

Then Everitt to Enright which leaves me about $260,000

Then the week after going Yarran to Rioli before his price rise (Yarran will stress me out to much)

Leaving me 100k

My thinking was Libba and Harris will score too well to have them just sitting in the bench so i can afford to play one each week and get the value of Curnow.

So i would have gone from these players starting to the following

Evershit
Hayes
Yarran

Enright
Harris
Rioli

Mids atm are: Swan, Pendles, Judd, Bartel, Hayes, Krackhead, (Harris, Libba, Savage)

Good option?

Re: Round 3 Trades & Trading Strategies

Have Mitch Clark, assumed he was going to play a lot in the ruck & get back to form of a couple of years ago but with J.Brown going down think he may be stuck in a very uneventful Brisbane forward line, opinions on whether I should upgrade to Cox or hold off in the hope Clark improves?? Cheers

Good option?
seems like the best option possible mate looks like you'll gain a lot from that, midfield is very very strong so you can deal with downgrading Lenny to a cheapy for cash.

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to get tapscott into my lineup,

Goddard, gibbs, broughton, grimes, heppel, lower everitt
(duigan, stanley, batchelor)

Swan, pendles, mitchel, selwood, cotchin, harris
(bewick, curnow, savage)

Cox, warnock
(smith, dericx)

Sylvia, goodes, franklin, roo, fyfe, krakour, knights
(matera, darling, riachardson)

I've only got $2000 in the kitty so I was wanting to free up some cash in order to upgrade in coming weeks, I've also got the dud himself everitt in the backline so I need to get rid of him soon as well.

So should i be freeing up some cash by bringing tapscott in for a starting player or someone on the bench, should I get rid of everitt this round? and who could be a good option?

Any help would be great, cheers guys.
