Correct, but we start off with 3 6-day breaks, concluding with a trip to Sydney in Round 4.
As the AFL Site calls it "a horror start".
Hardly a "horror" start i would of thought, would prefer the tough trips to be early in the season when the players are fresh, then hopefully we can roll into the finals with a lot of fit players.

When they play Sydney it will be their 4th game in 19 days.
I doubt that the players will be "fresh" by then.

The 7 at home in no particular order.
G/C.
Port.
Melb.
Bris.
Dogs.
GWS.
North.

How do you know this? BTW the North game is at Etihad.
Would be disappointed if this is true, no Perth side at home and we still don't get to play St. Kilda at Kardinia Park for some reason.

Saints will be on the slide, so no crowd puller

And that's why I hope to get them at KP next season. They haven't played here since 2004, so now would be a perfect time to play the Saints here with them on the slide. Wouldn't mind playing Richmond here again as well, a young team on the improve with a large supporter base who may give us a cracking game next season.

The upgrade on the stadium will be great for the city. I'll hope to head over to Simmonds for this one. Looking forward to it.
You know, Igloo, play your cards right and WB could become co-tenant at Simmonds Stadium - only 45 minutes away by train. Just look at the money Geelong makes playing at the ground

IIRC, a few years ago we were looking into it. My memory is a bit hazy, but I think the AFL didn't allow it. Could be completely wrong though :p. I'd love it though. It's such a great stadium.

Anyway, I don't want to derail your thread, guys :D

Have been told we play Richmond, Sydney, and now the Gold Coast at K Park next year. I believe, but not sure at all, two more are against St Kilda and Footscray. At this stage 2 are Sat night, 1 twilight, 3 Sat arvo, and 1 Sunday 1:10pm- although the AFL haven't finalised time slots yet.

A chick I know who works in the membership department told me this, she reckons she has 'seen' a copy of the draft draw 'floating around'. For that reason I'm not entirely sure how reliable that all is so don't shoot the messenger if it ends up wrong. She may be horribly wrong or telling porkies.

whats the likelihood of vline running extra trains after night games for those of us who live in melbourne?

I believe you have 4 of the first 10 interstate - It's definitely not 6

Not ideal, but you guys have requested to play all you KP matches in the 2nd half of the year

3 consecutive 6 day breaks is ridiculous to start the year - completely unnecessary by the AFL too

We played R2-4 Cats, Dogs, Pies on 6 day breaks in 2010, and R2-4 Cats, Crows, Eagles on 6 day breaks in 2012

Fairly sure Cooky was just stating that we have 6 road trips total not just 6 in the first 10

Yeah, there's no reason why we should have to play all our interstate games in the first 10. If the interstate games are spread out it won't be much harder than this season and we could go on a huge run with all the Geelong games in the second half of the year.

Amazing how much playing the Swans v Cats match on the Friday night helps the Swans... they play you on the back of 3 consecutive 6 day breaks, and because they are playing the Saints on the Thursday Night on ANZAC Day it means they'll have a 6 day break leading into the match where we can assume the Saints will only have 5.

Raises a good point, which is that we need to look at our opponents' runs leading into games against us. They might be even worse off.

Although, it does feel harsh on us...

Pies and Bombers fans routinely whinge about the preparation for ANZAC day but both teams always have the same break leading into the game, and often end up with a much longer break leading into the next week than their opponent

We started 2012 with Pies Cats Crows Eagles Swans... piece of piss really.

We both had long breaks leading into the R2 match, but our next 3 matches were disgraceful... the Crows had 2 more days break on us, the Eagles had played GWS the previous week and the Swans had had a pretty easy first 4 rounds highlighted by super tough away matches against GWS and Port ffs

Starting off with 4 games in 19 days, all against likely top 8 teams, including both of last year's G/Finalists, each on a different day of the week, and culminating in a weekday trip to Sydney.
That has nothing whatever to do with playing at KP later in the season.
What it has to do with is either sheer incompetence, or out and out bastardry.

It's the latter. The AFL has no real interest in making the fixture even or fair, and they have even less interest in having a strong, consistent GFC showing the way. But who cares? I love it in the 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger' frame of mind. Makes winning even more tasty.

I suppose it depends on whether you see your cup as half full or half empty.
And don't forget "what does kill you makes you dead".
