Sure. Lose all your other key high picks and any team can have a big draft. :)

Very happy with the way things panned out. We knew Cripps was coming but would be very happy to have secured what many considered to be the best KPB

Very true.
Collingwood had to give up Shaw & Thomas to get what they got tonight (and Adams)

I'm very happy with how we went tonight and look forward to the rookie draft on Wednesday.

SO what now with the rookie draft with those 2 passes. How many we got to pick? Scotland one.

I think I heard Rogers saying that we will have 5 picks in the rookie draft, one being Scotland, so if we do not go to the pre-season draft, then we are looking at picking 4 new faces.
I'd go with a project ruck, another midfielder and a KPP.
Templeton, Tsitas or Lambert seems to be fairly good rookie choices.
While I do not know much about the ruck stock this year, KPP I can do with Hourigan or Thorp.

I totally missed this story: our prized recruiting guru from the cats walks out on the club, possibly going back to Geelong.

Can any one fill-in the details?
---------
from herald sun:
CARLTON'S draft planning has been disrupted by the sudden resignation of key recruiter Luke Williams.

Williams was lured to Carlton from Geelong in what was lauded as a major coup in May given he'd been the right-hand man to guru recruiter Stephen Wells.
He was brought in to work under Carlton's national recruiting manager Shane Rogers with the Blues keen to tap into the valuable intellectual property he gained from 14 years with Geelong.
Williams left Visy Park two weeks ago with personal issues believed to be the reason behind his departure.
Carlton is adamant that the loss of Williams hasn't impacted on its preparation for tomorrow night's national draft where they have seven picks, starting at No.13."He's been gone for a couple of weeks," Carlton chief executive Greg Swann confirmed last night. "All the work was done so it's not an issue from a preparation point of view."
There is a chance Williams could return to the Cats given they had still not filled the position he vacated six months ago.

Collingwood did well in the draft as any team would have done under the same circumstances.

Brisbane being touted as having a great draft could possibly be proved to be so but they effectively lost picks #5, #8, #12 for picks in the 20s and 30s
Using the numbers only, it doesn't come across as great reading.

Right, but if you take out the players that they lost and just look at the picks that they had, they could not have done much better than they did with those picks. There team is not as good as it was going into trade week but is better than it was at the end of trade week.

Can't help but feel very pleased with what we've done this evening. Despite knowing next to nothing of the players and their on-field exploits, it looks as though we went in with the aim of bringing in 3 high quality individuals and we've achieved exactly that.

Disregarding the positions they fill on the field all of Cripps, Giles and Holman sound like strong-minded kids with a good head on their shoulders. All seem genuinely excited to be coming to the club and sound as though they'll do everything they can to ensure their success at the elite level.

Good luck to all 3 boys. They've joined the best club in the land and now find themselves living the dream many of us have had throughout the course of our lives. Looking forward to seeing how they develop over the coming seasons.
