Fell through. A contact is a contract apparently
There's contracts, and then there's 'contracts'...

Our offer to Cameron was 5 years $4 million and Boyd 5 years $3 million plus our first pick to GWS back in July.
Just so happens our first pick is pick 1.

As I said on the weekend, shits about to get real.
The Bulldogs president is a flog, did anyone hear him on MMM this morning? Their former skipper Gary Ablett esque? What a first rate flog.

Loyalty and Respect make a man, I respect Beams for wanting to leave for his dad and Ryder who has fears for his and child's health. Those are valid reasons for wanting to leave while contracted but GWS doing a deal with Griffen who is seen bellow isn't

Griffen seems to be wanting out rather then being pried and that stuff happens all the time. Do you respect the Doggies less for trying to pries away GWS number 1 draft pick and a building block of the future for their team who is still contracted? Looking objectively i see that as worse then facilitating a trade that Griffen wants. Boyd may break his leg and never play again but the money he gained wont fix fractured relationships or peoples perceptions. I just must have a different view on what a contract should mean,
And again if he does stay fit one more year at GWS want leave him poor or unwanted.
I'm pretty sure he'll still be able to show his face in society if he gets traded out one year into his time there. As long as you respect yourself and are true to yourself you don't need anyone else's respect. In footy contracts get broken all the time anyway, just ask Scott Watters, Brenton Sanderson, Guy McKenna, Dom Tyson (who GWS trade while under contract last year), etc.

And all he's doing is asking the question here. They are perfectly free to say no if they don't want to trade him, or if they aren't able to do a deal that benefits them. He could be doing them a favour if he's just going to walk when uncontracted in 12 months time anyway.

Guess it all depends how much we want him really.
If we view him as a franchise player we match the Dogs' offer, we certainly have the cap space.
If not, we keep pick 1 or trade it to GWS for a bundle of picks.

Those are both somewhat reasonable contracts (Cameron is value, Boyd is overs but not as much as reported from the dogs). Still don't like the 5 years.

By the end of the 5th year, Boyd on only $600K PA could actually be a bargain, especially if the AFLPA are able to successfully negotiate the huge salary cap increases that they are talking about in the meantime. If things go well for him that could be as little as half of his market value by that time.

Would you rather 'tracca or Boyd? Taking into consideration the cash we would have to offer Boyd as well.
Watching Tom Boyd take a few clutch overhead marks in the wet, deep in the last quarter of a game at the 'G earlier this year (forget who against, but he & Patton nearly got them over the line), was enough to convince me that he's a future superstar & i would be very very happy with him in RW&B....

On the other hand, I'd be happy with Petracca at pick 1 anyway.....

Cant lose!

Sweet Jesus, t

As a newbie, you don't post on here nearly enough. I love your directness . Keep it coming.
Thanks, I floated this scenario with these two earlier in the year and got canned by some people so I decided to keep what I know to myself. I have a close group of confidants who I share info with from here, they aren't tol excited today as they've known for three months what our strategy was.

Reading between the lines of the WB debacle.
-Griffin wants out
- Coach is SACKED
WB supporters then start to cry at the state of their club.
WB brains trust think "Hmm, how can we get a positive here?"
Lets do something BIG!:D
- Offer Boyd something too good to refuse
- Announce Boyd is coming to the masses..........

Problem is, they didn't think it through/discuss/negotiate first. IMO Boyd will not go to WB.
Gordon and his mates will have some explaining to do
