Thanks, I floated this scenario with these two earlier in the year and got canned by some people so I decided to keep what I know to myself. I have a close group of confidants who I share info with from here, they aren't tol excited today as they've known for three months what our strategy was.

With all due respect pick 1 for Boyd & 3 or Cameron & 3 was a bit hard to believe! Pick 1 direct swap for Boyd is a lot more realistic.

IF GWS agree to trade him he's coming to St Kilda.

We should do what it takes to get Boyd now. If we wait another year every club will be queuing up to have a crack at him meaning he'll have to choose between us and a load of other clubs. If it's a choice between us and the Dogs I'd back in our coach and recruiting team to show him why we are a better fit to come to than a team with no captain and no coach. Sometimes life throws up situations when you have to act you'll lose the chance forever and I think we have that now with Boyd so really hope we go hard.

I appreciate the information, Brianspeaking, however I'm just finding it a little hard to connect the dots.

How come Boyd comes out and nominates Western Bulldogs, if he is going to come to the Saints?

God Complex?
A God Complex is an unshakable belief characterized by consistently inflated feelings of personal ability, privilege, or infallibility. A person with a God Complex may refuse to admit the possibility of their error or failure, even in the face of complex or intractable problems or difficult or impossible tasks, or may regard their personal opinions as unquestionably correct. The individual may disregard the rules of society and require special consideration or privileges.

Our offer to Cameron was 5 years $4 million and Boyd 5 years $3 million plus our first pick to GWS back in July.
Just so happens our first pick is pick 1.

As I said on the weekend, shits about to get real.
The Bulldogs president is a flog, did anyone hear him on MMM this morning? Their former skipper Gary Ablett esque? What a first rate flog.

i almost spat out my coffee when i heard that and then that comment about how he will call the other club to get the deal done...****ing hell

Clubs always/generally aim very/too high though. See Collingwood asking for pick 5 and an Aish/Hanley/Rockliff/Mayes for Beams. Or Brisbane thinking they'd get Beams initially for just pick 5! Or us thinking that Cripps would be enough to get the contracted and required Mitch Brown, only to end up offering half our draft picks for him.

Simple, if he really wants out of GWS St Kilda has more currency to do a deal with both him and GWS. We can satisfy him with a big fat contract.
His manager is also the best in the business, remember the Buddy Franklin deal last year? Blindsided 99.9% of the industry and if you search through my history you'll see I mentioned that he was not going to GWS a week or so before he didn't.
Having said all of that, if GWS hold firm
He ain't going anywhere until next year, when we are likely to have the number 1 pick again.

I've been trying to tone it down.

*shrugs* Large bags of cash changed things.
If you were too stupid to allow for large bags of cash when making your statements then you were quite stupid indeed. It's like saying the back door being left open was the reason your house was robbed - the door was there the whole time, you just forgot to consider it. Bags of cash ste always around, you need to allow for these in your earlier statements.

Apparently Boyd's camp havent even asked GWS for a trade. It is all coming out of the Bulldogs camp.

That goes without saying. I don't believe anyone questioned the fact Boyd or Cameron wanted to come to us it was the suggestion we would get either of them packaged with 3 for 1. Brian was very definitive with his statement.

Anyway, moving on. I hope Boyd goes to GWS along with 6, Jaksch & 19 to Carl for 7 & we take 4, 6 & 7 for 1 & 22.

They're not going to give Boyd up for a bloke who'll turn 29 next year with back problems.

They apparently want Petracca so i think we're in with a very, very good chance of getting him.

I'm not saying it's going to be a straight swap, but Griffen wants to go to Giants, and Boyd to Dogs so I think the two will be a part of a deal. To be honest I think pick 6 and Griffen is a fair deal.

This is why I was hoping we'd get pick one, if you don't win the flag and have a losing season, no one cares if you have pick 2,3,4,5 or 10.
It's all about losing to become better, I hope the penny is dropping finally for you passionate anti losing Saints fans.

Oh dear, if Boyd doesn't end up at the Dogs after the massive kerfuffle they've made over him, they'll have some very red faces.
As I said in a previous post the Bulldogs have been using words such as "will" and not "might" or "want" which makes it look like they have already got him but it is obviously just a PR thing to say to the Bulldogs fans "Hey we sacked our coach but alteast we will get Boyd so don't worry"
