Interesting how the girls play at all different times and days through the season to fit in around the guys, but the one week that one guys game is shifted to accommodate the girls all hell breaks loose!

I agree that the timing of this "novelty act" act as you call it might not have been handled correctly, but can see that AFLQ have done it to try to raise awareness of female football. It's a shame that will be lost on so many of you.

Anyway, no point arguing about it now - good luck to all the teams playing today. Seeing as you're all such big supporters of female footy I look forward to seeing you stay around at Yeronga in a few weeks after the QAFL Grand Final to watch the twilight QWAFL Grand Final!

Hey spooner21,

Don't be too disappointed if you don't see me there, as I have some coats of paint that will need watching to dry on my fence - The wife is going to paint the fence while the AFLQ Grand Final is on and I promised her that it was my turn to get home early to watch it dry this year - I know you are thinking what a good guy I am, but after all Its the least I could do as it is after the AFLQ footy season finishes and that's my time with her.

watched Morningside beat PBC today... Pbc gave their best shot and matched it for 2 and a bit quarters, but then the Panthers broke the game open.Kinch was in the thick of it from the opening bounce, and he really kept the Panthers in the game in the first half, then continued on his merry way in the second half running off the half back line at will and must of had 35 plus touches. What I don't understand is the fact that why wasn't he tagged . And if he was, the bloke tagging him had no idea on what tagging is.!!!
Morningside surely will win the flag this year and I reckon by 10 goals plus.

See the Vultures go down by 5 points in a thriller today.. Geez, their improvement from the start of the season has been amazing.... Well done Vultures.

Great weekend of football ,Morningside just to good for palm beach and agree why wasn't Kinch tagged. Everyone locked out of the rooms after the game and Cressa gave one of the biggest sprays I've heard. Mt Gravatt v Labrador yesterday was a cracker, goal for goal at one stage I thought it was going to be a draw and 5 min each end. How good is that Ryan Davey? Vultures very good, Godfrey was very good as was Hamill. Will be a good game this week between Lab and Palmy but unfortunately neither team will worry the Panters the week after .Perry Bolt surely wont play looked under done with his knee, at one stage he had to go into the ruck and just looked slow and not interested, Clearly he's not a 100 per cent.

Outstanding growth from the Vultures this year, looking at their development over the season compared to a similar list in the Magpies was chalk and cheese.

Comes down to culture and coaching I think...

as said good year by the Vultures great to see them using there junior base well, think the Magpies were inconsistant with wins over Vultures, shouldve got Broady and then losing to UQ,losing Carsledine in the first game and Pope for the last 6 didnt help. Need to get on the track early and with hard work and a few recruits can climb back up quickly,Training consistantly will help them play consistantly!!!!

Interesting results of the restructure, and it should fix up over time.

But potentially:

QAFL - Undefeated Premiership
QFA South - Premiers drop a single game (in torrential rain)
QFA North - Undefeated Premiers 300+ %
QAFA A - Premiers lost 2 games
QAFA B - Undefeated Premiers

Restructure wasn't far off producing undefeated flags across 5 divisions!

Question is are nay of these clubs capable of going up a level? or have they just got a great group right now at the level they are playing now?
1. Will Pumas be as strong once Furfaroe,Proud and Hooper move on or hang em up?
2. Will Mayne be as strong when there loyal stars Brown,Ferguson,Hoesey etc pull the pin?

Give it a couple of years and it will even out.

In fact, of all the dominant sides in each division I think Morningside's reign could last the longest.

Other divisions could produce new premiers as soon as next season.

I don't think Pumas or Tigers would have made QAFL finals, but the Pumas are definitely stronger than the Magpies, RedLions, Gorillas, Hawks & Demons.

Pumas are probably stronger than those sides this year, will they be in 2 years time? again I am a magpie supporter but keep in mind they did beat Mt gravatt twice this year and should have got them in the 2nd round and led Broady twice without sealing the deal, there loss to UQ did dent there credentials... in saying that didnt have a good year

Probably not, which is why the restructure should work in the long run.

As for the Magpies, they were certainly a disappointment this year - I know they lost some talent, but I thought they would play finals and watching them go backwards while the Vultures went in the opposite direction was certainly interesting viewing.

Their U/18 outfit is a bit of a worry if you are looking at potential development too - where will they top up from?

Nice new changerooms, but its not a place you will easily lure a gun player. Terrible playing/training surface, questionable culture off-field and some of their selections appeared quite bizarre. Even at one point openly admitting to dropping a senior player to qualify him for Reserves Finals -where is their head at?

You have to wonder why some of their best players from previous 3 seasons are either playing at Kenmore or in Division 4 with the Woodsmen? The environment obviously wasn't an enjoyable one for such a mass exodus.

Good debate but thought some clarification was required.....
1. Never had an issue with off field culture any thing that should be referenced?
2. Lost 2 of their best in Roscinski who pulled the pin because of where he lives and Mcdonnell due to work opportunities
3. the blokes that played Woodies were retirees over 30 years of age, Dobson and Mihalopoulas
4. only lost one player of serious note to Kenmore in Corrie,Reid was a good reserve grade player and Fozzard 30+ and had retired from the level
5. 18s are a concern but 16s were amazing this year
6. AFLQ were the grounds keepers this year and put the wrong treatment on at the start of the year which killed the grass
7. dont like having players going back to qualify but dont think they are the first to do it...
Mass exodus were all 30+ that essentially pulled the pin, apparently a few ex Maggies are keen to get back involed and play that are currently at higher levels

With the way this has unfolded, are there more big changes expected in the off-season ?? I know you have access to some pretty impressive tea leaves !!

Surely Morningside would be competitive in the NEAFL, would just need financial assistance ??

Exactly, and a good way to keep some very good players involved in the sport, and still out there getting a kick with their mates.
true good blokes to keep around the club and i see on the maggies facebook Ed Mcdonnell is involved with the west magpies academey over the summer which is great hopefully with the club doing things like that plus a recruit or 2 and few returns? improvement will come quickly! anyway enough about maggies any news about the remaining teams in the finals?

What ended up happening with Kenrick Tyrell? Remember seeing an article earlier in the year that he had signed with Western Magpies?

ok guys, what about the prelim at Broady this weekend. Who do you think will win between Palmy and Labrador.?
Should be a great contest and I expect a big crowd be it a derby between 2 gold coast based sides and being played at Broadys home ground.
