Can't see the Lions bidding... got a feeling there is a gentleman's agreements between the frontier clubs not to bid on each others academy prospects.

He is suggesting that the team picking 2nd would bid on those two players and so under the new live bidding system they would technically be picked 2nd and 3rd with the matching club forfeiting later picks to secure them early.
Presumably the swans will be looking to trade for soe. Draft picks to match their highly rated academy and f/s picks. Might be some opportunities there.

We've been crying out for one for years. Still have nightmares over that Milne game where he kicked 11 or 12I think a smaller lockdown defender is a need. Someone who can shut his opponent out of the game, ideally those blokes do need to provide some re-bound these days.

I'm hoping Harwood can do it. Seeing Clem Smith playing alright for Carlton in that role hurts but maybe J McGrath can fill that role.
If we get Dixon and/or Rance it changes how we'll look at the draft completely.
Say we get both. We'd have Rance, Merrett, Clarke, Gardiner, Andrews, Paparone as tall/third tall defenders.
Dixon, Freeman, Close and McStay as tall targets up forward. Merrett and Andrews would be able to be swingmen. The club will back 2 of McStay, Freeman and Close to become AFL level forward.
So what would the other gaping hole on our list be then? Say Leuenberger leaves, we'd have Martin as the main ruck who will be 29 at years end. West as back up. and a largely unproven Archie Smith on the rookie list who may very well get moved on. We need a ruckman.

If there's one thing the entire league has learnt you don't draft a ruckman at pick 3. You also don't draft small defenders there either.
Our midfield is loaded with a graders. The list of talls below are hopefully a graders. We'd be stupid not to take a tall unless over the rest of the season it becomes am midfielders draft and shache has fallen to pick 10 or something.

Conlon was highly touted as a draft prospect in 2013, with many rating him as the second best tall forward behind eventual No. 1 pick Tom Boyd
Apeness, Leslie and Wright are all ruck sized key position players though. Not sure any of them would have been drafted that high had they not been prospects to hold down a key defensive or attacking posts.
I think Kennedy from GWS is someone we should have a look at. No idea of his contract status but he would be a decent option for us.
Yeah he has signed until 2017Certainly. Think he signed a contract extension last year. They'd hate to see him go.
This was interesting....

Hadn't heard anything about him, but just did some research and he's certainly talented. That article is from last year though so no clue where he's at now.

Just wondering...Northern Blues are Carlton seconds... and as they need a forward....wonders if something shifty is going on and they have hidden him somewhere out of sight?.“He played a game in the twos there just to see how his body was going, put himself on ice and he’s getting ready to get stuck into a big pre-season down at the Northern Blues.”
Doubt he'll end up on a list now. Not really on the radar of any clubs.

To be fair, after Tom Boyd it was pretty weak draft for key position talls though.Hadn't heard anything about him, but just did some research and he's certainly talented. That article is from last year though so no clue where he's at now.
