2015 Draft Discussion

Pretty much if you read the live draft thread at the time, St Kilda fans were creaming themselves at the fact with 3 picks to go, Bonner, Mathieson and Balic were still available. But, much to their disappointment and my amusement when reading through the thread, those three players were picked with those last 3 picks before their pick 40.

The build up and reaction to all three players being taken is priceless.

Not sure what the deal was with the dogs, considering they got K.Collins.

They've been obsessed with him since last year. I think they started arguing about whether he was a spud soon after we took him as well.

Would love Parsons and William in the Rookie draft. Delist Hammer if we have too he is surplus to needs and didn't perform well at all in the reserves from all accounts.

can you still de list players? think we are pretty well stocked for young talls now. next few drafts concentrate on mids to replace the likes of beams, rockliff, hanley in the next 5 years or so, except for ballenden of course. william and parsons would be great, haven't we promised a rookie spot for paine?

Next few drafts gonna be just as good if not better.

Allison next draft and Bassendean (rated the top forward in the draft l think) the year after.

Funny, we go from having no forwards to having too many.

Saints should have bid for Keays at 18 lowering our points value to net the two sliders. Not our fault St. Kilda's recruiting team fluffed it.

I stand by original post, if William and Chol were from an anglo saxon background I think they both would have been drafted. Now I am not calling anyone racist, can't believe the tools who jumped to the conclusion and called me a racist. Surely they should be carded.

There was a time where indigenous players were not drafted due to the perceived cultural and behavioural issues. I feel we are going to need to have a number of Sudanese rookie listed players before clubs will confidently draft them.

I have seen racism from know it all white parents when picking Sudanese and African boys in teams. I also feel any of you who refer to Chol and William as project players are racist pigs. When was a white footballer last called a project player.

If ever there was a project player in the AFL, then surely [he] fits the bill. He turns 22 at the start of the season but Saturday night's clash against Freo was just his fifth game of football since his junior days.

His elevation to the senior team was extraordinarily quick. He played his first AFL game in the first round of the 2013 season and has played 66 games for the club in just three years despite arriving as a project player.

Earlier today......

Geelong has gambled on three project players in its late selections in the AFL national draft.
The Cats also added a player with AFL experience in midfielder Sam Menegola, previously on lists at Fremantle and Hawthorn.
Geelong selected Ryan Gardner (pick 59), Sam Menegola (pick 66), Wylie Buzza (pick 69) and Matthew Hayball (pick 70).
