In seriousness, the media have to do it to keep things fresh and give people a new stimulus to keep them interested.

They can't keep throwing Hawthorn down our throats, it gets old very quickly.

I think players may leave/ not develop as great as people think

I used to think that but i think equalization is working.

Melbourne, Bulldogs, Port Adelaide all maligned clubs who have turned it around in a short period of time.

Not including GWS as it's impossible not to improve with everything they got.

good question, I think 16 teams is ok, but 18 is too many. My personal view is that if the AFL were so set on expansion they may have been better off getting one of the smaller Vic clubs like Norf or the Doggies to relocate. I'm still not convinced that GWS or the Suns will make it. GWS probably have a better chance in the long run because of the larger population in western Sydney, provided they can attract enough new fans to the game.
