Port will be one of the dominant teams of the competition in the next 5-7 years. They should win at least 1 premiership during this period. With on field success the money should roll in unless they are completely useless at managing their finances.

I would happily suffer a few seasons of tarps and ridicule that comes with it if it meant you could have a list like Ports. They will be the number 1 show in town both on and off the field. I expect in 7 years they will have more supporters that the AFC. In time we will realise just how disasterous the Trigg, Chapman, Reid and to a lesser extent Craig reigns were for the AFC.
Dont count ports chickens just yet, theyve lost 2 senior assistants in 2 years (remember what happened when we lost ours?) They lack depth imo and the pressure will go way up if they lose a couple in a row.

You are just a ray of sunshine.

I posted this about 4 weeks ago....... hmmmmm:confused:

Your google search where it states 40% is incorrect that was back in 2010.

Today it is about 1 in 3. There is a good article if you are interested.

I've gotta start looking at dates. The thread went to the top of the board and I just assumed what I was looking at was recent. Sorry about that and you're obviously correct at about 33%. Disturbing numbers either way.

Whats surprising about the Rucci story is that people still get outraged when he writes dribble or anti-afc crap. The guy is not a journalists ass and it's why he is laughed at outside of SA. There's not another sports journalist in Australia who is as biased, unprofessional and inaccurate as Rucci is.

Don't read him, don't buy his paper - problem solved. He thrives on this sh*t.

No problems. Credit for apologizing.:thumbsu:

Violence against men, should be treated as serious as women. Equality after all.

With the AFC 2005/06 team though we lacked a truly good forward that could do damage.

Port on the other hand have IMO the perfect team and are covered in every position on the ground.

There is huge number of variables that can determine success or failure, I would back Port in dominating the comp for the next 5 years comfortably. Hawks have too many players on the wrong side of 30, Sydney will be hurt by the Buddy and Tippett recruits for mismanaging their list, North again have an aging list ditto Geelong. Ports list is the best in this regard, probably a query over replacing Schultz.

I think you are wrong with the reason why we didn't get to the GF in 2005/2006 - a few key injuries buggered us, along with a nemesis in the form of a great WC midfield.

As far as Port having the "perfect team" and being "covered in every position on the ground" I'll beg to differ again.

They are looking like a good team, but FFS they came 5th last year and made a Prelim - they didn't dominate anything. Even the most optimistic Port supporter would baulk at your claims.

You say AFC of 2005/6 lacked a truly good forward - then say that the team that is apparently going to dominate the next 5 years has a query over it's key forward - Schultz? I don't understand that logic at all.

The over-the-top Port calls reek of fear to me :)

How about ... Port look in a good position heading into 2015, that is about all we can say with any certainty.

Well I didnt want to go into ad nauseum details about why we failed, but of course there was Roo having the parvo virus didnt help as well. There was a myriad of other reasons. It was primarily the timing of the injuries that killed us. We actually had a good year until just before the finals.

Anyways 2015 should be interesting.

Let's see how their depth goes when Ryder & monfries are rubbed out for a year...

Not to mention the fact that Trengove and Whinegard have had a screwed preseason.

History suggests that when a player has a poor preseason the year ahead does not bode well.
