I'm with you KP, I was to gutless to go out on my own, but im taking the plunge, Fyfe in Ablett out.

Starting Midfield now has Selwood, Pendles, Fyfe, Danger, Parker, Greene/Griffen, Rich, Heeney.

Be warned though I may chicken out as the season draws closer.

GAJ is to supercoach as what Sir Isaac Newton was (and still is) to physics and mathematics. One does not "leave out" a person of such calibre and influence.

Newton also thought he could turn any base metal into Gold, so even the greats have flaws.

You may be proven right, but fortune favours the brave :$

Newton actually devoted most of his time towards alchemy than anything else. ☺
Ablett turns his football to supercoach gold every week :)

So your calling Ablett the Supercoach Alchemist :p.

Theres a lot of merit to that theory.

Whaaaaat? That's way too much money. The rest must be a wreck. 5 keepers or perceived keepers is as much as you can go in the mids imo not 7 that's madness.

My back line is taking a hit, rolling the dice on two Premos and 2 low priced mid pricers, tossing up between Waters , Roberton, Pearce, Rohan or Whitecross. Haven't settled yet, and hoping they can come close to matching the higher priced mid pricers like Rampe, Newnes, McKenzie, etc.

I figured I could have gone another premo in the backs and one mid pricer, but the lower priced ones have similar potential (a lot will disagree, but Waters is a fallen premo, Pearce averaged 91 in 12', Rohan is an option to fill Malceski's role over Rampe, and Roberton and WhiteX have shown glimpses in 12' not dissimilar to Newnes last year before being injured.

Injuries are the biggest concern, but it's only January, so my team is far from set, and I just figure everyone will be taking risks in the backline this year, mine are just a little bigger. But the midfield it allows me makes my pants tight.

Need to pick 3 of Pendles, Selwood, Fyfe and Ablett.

Cant decide who to leave out, but cant afford all of them.

Would love it if someone could confidently say we didn't need Ablett this year ;)
I'd leave Selwood out of those four.

LOL. JUST LOL.

Yep i'm having second feelings about this, but im going to role with it for a while.

But here is how im reasoning it to myself:

He is 30, with the emergence of O'Meara, Swallow, Prestia, Bennell, and Martin, maybe he will start seeing a little less time in the midfield than previously and a bit more time up forward to try and extend his career.

They brought in Hallahan which adds the big body, and Rischitelli is the experience.

So maybe, just maybe, Ablett doesn't need to be as dominant this year. :$

Or he could win the Coleman and get 25+ possessions a game and set new sc average record of 155 a game

Or he could do that (a la Leigh Matthews) o_O

But my eggs are in the quiet season basket at the moment.

Only time will tell if my balls are rock solid enough to stand by the choices I have made today.

He will play till he's 40. If he plays forward he will win the Coleman. Also if you take out the 61 when he got injured against Collingwood his average jumps from 136 to 142. You're actually getting Gaz at a discount. Once he scored 254. Go on, leave him out :p

I think the issue is not only the weakness it will undoubtedly create across your other lines but also the lack in money making potential, the midfield always has the best rookies and missing out on 3,4 or 5 of those could be the difference between ending up with a team filled to the brim with premos on all lines or still having an "almost" fill M8, D6 or F6. Its brave but I think you should probably look at all the effects of such a stacked midfield other than pure scoring potential

Pendles. As reliable as he is, he rarely gets those massive scores that Jelwood can.
Despite this Pendlebury has a higher average meaning that he more consistantly scores a higher score than Jelwood, this is particularly important if you are going for overall as the average score is more important than the ability to score big week to week, but it depends if you are going for league or overall I guess

Agreed. But do you think Jelwood has a bit more upside in him than Pendles? I do.

Selwoods best season was 2013 when he lost to Ablett by 1 vote in the brownlow. He averaged 118 that year. Pendles had a down year this year and still averaged 124. I'm not sure of exact stats but I just think Pendles game is more suited to SC

Good stats. But I think this might be the year the jelwood goes past him. Just a hunch.
