Wow.Otten has appealed his ban

We need to know what the Tribunal Report says. But I imagine that line of questioning would backfire.
They can't in good conscience give 3 or more weeks given Sumner's penalty. But I would expect contact with an umpire during a scuffle to normally attract no less than 4 weeks, perhaps 5 or 6 even.
Oh dear..... why Andy why
but they don't have to suspend him.Seems an each way bet to me. Should have been many weeks, but it was reduced due to the impact of his concussion. But whilst they accept that concussion mitigates his degree of fault, they must suspend a player who makes contact with an umpire. Personally, I don't understand it, he was either in his right mind or he was not. Take a position either way and give him 0 or 6 rather than what appears a balance of probabilities style decision.

if they have a doctors report saying concussion then it should be 0 (assuming the Doctors would agree that concusion impacts the way you think)
That doesn't provide an open slather for players to touch umpires because they will need to have a doctors report detailing the concussion etc.
Haven't they already conceded he had concussion resulting in the light penalty? If so there should really be no penalty.but they don't have to suspend him.

So I can punch an umpire and claim concussion? What should my penalty be?Haven't they already conceded he had concussion resulting in the light penalty? If so there should really be no penalty.
Otten didn't "punch" an umpire. So I can punch an umpire and claim concussion? What should my penalty be?
But if you are going to use the slippery slope that '' concussion excuses everything'' then my question is validOtten didn't "punch" an umpire.
It's pretty obvious he was concussed at the time. The fact that the charge was for deliberate contact surely can't be proven in that case.
So I can punch an umpire and claim concussion? What should my penalty be?

Not trolling at all. My argument is if you are going to use concussion as an excuse then where do you stop? Not sure if you're trolling...
Have you seen the footage? Was wringed out like a hot flannel by Sumner, on the deck for a bit gets up and within seconds he makes contact with the umpire. It is very reasonable to use the concussion as a valid defence considering how short after the hit the contact with the ump occurred.
