Why haven't we put broadbent on the trade table. Our 'strength' is HBFs and Broadbent could get us a top 20 pick or a good player. We need him or Hartlett.
Him and Lobbe would be the first 2 players would look to trade from our list.

PORT Adelaide has confirmed its interest in Geelong ruckman-forward Nathan Vardy, but his move to Alberton hinges on finding a trade for ruckman Matthew Lobbe.
And the Cats are dismissing the Power — or any AFL rival — has made a move on contracted speedster Steven Motlop.

Someone must have seen something in Vardy - 25 games in 5 years looks like a pretty undistinguished career and I'd be extremely annoyed if we let more than a 4th round pick go for him. If Geelong are interested enough to take Lobbe with his long contract and give us Vardy and their 36(they also have 40) then that could work. Although if Lobbe is leaving I'd like to shop him around to see what we can get. I know there are a lot of people on this board who think we have no chance of that but other teams may have different ideas.

According to Chris Davies we are still keen on Nathan Vardy but only if Lobbe finds a new home.

Is Lobbe for Vardy that big a win for us? Has such a deal got any chance of happening?

I am with you Mick, I think I would sooner aim at a second round pick for Lobbe. I went to the Cats board when Vardy was first mentioned and they do not put a huge price on him.

I guess a lot will depend on what we get for Lobbe. If we scored a second for Lobbe then gave a fourth for Vardy it would be close to the mark.

Its more the money release of Lobbe

Why are we chasing someone that can't stay on the park?

The point of this aspect of our trading is-

(1) Free up salary cap (i.e. lose Lobbe @ $400,000 pa and gain Vardy @ $250,000 pa)

(2) Improve draft position (i.e. gain pick 28 for Lobbe, spend pick 60 on Vardy).

You are probably right shewy but if we have to rely on a contracted player agreeing to move before we can trade then we have stuffed up.

I hope Rucci is right and we have that $600,000.

Had a look at the cows "Bryce Gibbs requests a trade" thread. Sounds like a title to one of the Ladybird books that I had when I was a kid.
Most of the stuff seemed to be pretty sensible, the odd humorous one where they suggested #13 and Bicks and Rowe. Not sure if one of them was serious, it suggested getting 19 from Brisbane for 31 and CEY and then getting Gibbs for 19 and Grigg.
And most who posted on whether we would be in it agreed that we wouldn't.

going to be hard to move on any of our list cloggers or high salary/long contract players for good draft spots especially when big ticket players have nominated Geelong, Collingwood and Hawthorn who want to bring in all these names but don't have 1st rounds or high draft picks available
