Every player in the team should know how to defend. Defence first is supposed to be Ken's mantra. Saying that Neade is in the team because he's the only bloke in the forward half that can chase and tackle is incorrect.

Why the **** did we give him one?

Chris Fagan says the first thing Brisbane needs is a defensive small forward, and you still don't understand why we gave Neade a contract?

Nah, he is for what he is. Not everyone has to be some line breaking superstar. He's great at his role.

Having good depth means you have players who can fill a hole in your side and not be a liability. Impey has surpassed him as a defensive forward, and I think our new shiny pick 9 (Taranto pls) would do the same, but I'm confident he has a place on the list as serviceable depth. A role player.
surely part of his role is kicking goals?

15 goals in 17 games wasnt cutting it for me this year

Has a long list of weaknesses... too long

He really isn't.

He's dreadfully mediocre in the truest sense of the word, which suits our post-premiership raison d'être to a tee.

Gus is back right?

I don't want to go all Kingyinthewarroom here, but I'm assuming he would've meant a defensive small forward who actually makes the team better, does things.

I'm a fan of Neade. I reckon most of the knocks on him are more coaching and failures of the surrounding players. Neade is one of the few players and probably the only forward that played to structure this year. It's not his fault he was often found 1 out against 2 or 3 defenders.

You just don't understand football tribester. Clearly if someone can run alot and do things like tackle but literally nothing else then you can be on an AFL side.

It's like employing mohamed farah to play AFL. Except no where near as fit and probably less effective. This isn't ****ing childrens football where you get kept on because you ran hard that one time and laid one tackle that looked really good once.

You actually need to, you know. Be able to kick the ball further than 40m, kick goals, take marks...things that believe it or not measure if a player is any good or not.

Taranto won't slide, will be a top 5 pick. Gun. Pick 9 is in the 2nd tier of the draft and it's unlikely, especially if we draft a tall, that pick 9 will be able to have a sudden impact in a team contending for top 8. Of course, Ollie and Chad are exceptions

He hardly touches it. Chris Mayne, when at his best, could apply pressure as well as kick goals and touch the footy

This all seems very chicken-egg and reminscent of a bygone era. At least Brett Ebert could take a grab and kick over several jamtins.

What i'd pay to see Hodge sniping Mitchell behind play or vice versa!.
I'd like to see Lou Codge come up behind Mitchell off the ball and nudge him in the back and for Mitchell to take a dive. It would create a real dilemma for the AFL MRP.

Gold Coast will probably now have picks 4, 6 (Prestia), 8, 10 (O'Meara), 22, 24, 26, 30, 44, 62, 80, 98

they had 39 players in 2016, they've lost Seb Tape (delisted), Luke Russell (delisted), Dion Prestia (Richmond), Jaeger O'Meara (Hawthorn),

they'll probably bring in Brendan Ah Chee and Pierce Hanley

at the that leaves 3 spots and 12 picks in the first six rounds

you'd assume they'll delist a few more players, like Henry Schade

but even still, this is way more picks than they actually need

could Port try and trade up, say pick 8 and one of their second rounders or something?

what is the point in trading Amon or Ah Chee. We have invested games and time in them, and right when they are about to come good, we want to trade them out... for steakknives

the point of trading Ah Chee is that he said he wants to go to Gold Coast.

i for one, am against trading Amon just yet
