That's right. How many players did the Hawks trade in ?
They got Tom Mitchell in exchange for pick 14, they needed to as their stocks of Mitchells had run dangerously low. IMO that was a worthwhile trade. Very superficially I'd have been happy for us to have given our pick 9 in that scenario.
Also they traded for picks and now have pick 10 so may use that to trade for O'Meara and I don't rate that at all. They've just got rid of that sort of trouble with Brad Hill to West Coast* Fremantle.

Who else might be provoked into leaving though? They delisted the "zimmer frame four", Wells is off...

Pending further disclosures, unlike the Carey case there's a chance he stays, and please understand I'm not judging the personal matter, just suggesting that their club may also choose to not judge the personal matter and simply back in the person in the alleged conflict that they feel is "more important" to their chances in 2017, and Goldy will be even more central than he was the last few years.

Wow ... Not so sure about that .... With a North "staffer"? ... That really affects the whole club. IMO, his starting at Norf becomes untenable!

I have no idea what could happen. Like you said it may very well amount to nothing (or the mystery staff member might just get a nice little bit of remuneration to move on).

But if it did have implications on trade week...?

One hypothetical could be kangaroos throw goldy on the table, Richmond desperately need a good quality ruckman so they push for him and in the process shun Prestia, prestia looks for somewhere else...
Yada yada yada
...we get Bontempelli and pick 1 for Lobbe

I need to repeat here that I'm not judging the act and know nothing of it. Let's proceed with the little we know of the allegation.

"Staffer" could mean anyone from the boot sprigger to the coach's daughters for all we know.

The club does not need to judge the act, assuming no laws have been broken, but can chose whoever they want to move on for the best of the club.

It's really that simple - at this stage.

If the Gold Coast get pick 14(via omeara) and have more picks then list spots do we offer 9 and 2017 2nd rounder for GC picks 14,22,24

I cannot imagine them
A) not wanting to delist more players with that many high draft picks
B) doing that trade anyway

But if they did, holy hell load up

Can you take this one PatientMental?
Davies and I have it covered.

Not entirely crazy but then it seems it's for Chris Davies and PatientMental to decide.

I would be stoked for us to do that tbh.

What is this even meant to mean? Not to mention Hill didn't go to the Eagles...

If they get O'Meara for 10 it will be an outstanding result for the Hawks.

Reading the O'Meara situation, someone reckons that Hawks traded into 10 so they can draft O'Maera with it if they have to in the national draft.

The thing about the national draft strategy is that a player can nominate their contract, but if a club is able and willing to match what he puts on the table, he is bound by the AFL to go there and play out his contract.

Remember midway in the year when someone said that Hinkley was up on the Gold Coast? I said you wouldn't make that trip during the season unless you were wanting to talk to a gun player like O'Maera.

What if O'Maera just wants out of Queensland, and nominated Melbourne to please his girlfriend, but if a deal can't be done in trade week he is quite happy to come to Port and reunite with Dixon and Hinkley and the girlfriend will have to deal with it because those are the AFL rules?

Not saying a deal won't be done (it will be), but hypothetically: would we select him with 9?

Can we afford his contract?

Especially considering what we paid for Dixon.
IIRC this time last yr there were equal measures of gnashing teeth and high 5's over the Dixon deal.
In hindsight throwing in our 2nd round pick this draft to clinch the deal was probably overs but tbh any KPF
would have struggled with our gameplan fwd entries and Schulzy missing. Work on Charlie's marking and Ryder back
plus another KPF and who knows. O'Meara atm with his knee and so few games over the last yr or 2 is
more an unknown than Charlie was.

I still have no issues with what we paid for Dixon.

The shemozzle which is our list has blame elsewhere.

I'm not sure what makes Hawthorn's trading so good, other than they've been really active.

They've moved on Sam Mitchell effectively for pick 88, traded themselves out of the first and second round this year and next year's first (when they hand over 10 for O'Meara), will probably have to unload another established player, unsettled Jordan Lewis by offering him for trade then backflipping. O'Meara's a walking sick note and T Mitchell is unproven as a lead midfielder. Oh and picked up flaky Vickery as a free agent.
