I've spent two years as a Ken Hinkley apologist. That ends now. You want to mortgage our future to try to save your job, for a deal that's not even that good, if we don't make finals next year you are out on your arse.
We didn't need to Thelma and Louise our club just to get rid of Hinkley

At the risk of upsetting the multitudes , if the club has concerns that Pittard will bail out when he is a free agent, then they should at the very least be proactive and test his value now.

It is highly unlikely Port are a genuine flag chance next season, and we may have an automatic replacement for him in Bonner anyway.

I believe it is far more important to retain Ollie Wines than Jasper, as his type are usually much more difficult to find.

This is very odd... there is no way we are actually this stupid.

Has to be more to this.

Don't we want 67 this year? Maybe we finish up earlier?

Certainly smells of "all in" by everyone at the club. If this fails, they will all have to fall on their sword.
Let's hope that attitude goes all the way through the club- no more players missing 3 weeks for hamstring tightness. That sort of nonsense gives everyone the message that it's not all about this year. Sooner rather than later it has to be all about this year.

Upside: Port haven't released membership packages for next year yet.

It either tells me we've got more to come, or we are not going to make many list changes.

Port Power Sports Power Power Sports Port Sports.

Not saying it was bad business, I really don't understand stuff that much, but I can't begin to describe how underwhelmed I felt after seeing a big "DEAL DONE" photo on instagram, only to realise we had traded picks for picks :D:(

Bottom 4 next year to really rub the salt in to the wound.

Disgraceful from Port.

Well at least the supporters who were pleading for activity got their wish.

I would've rather done nothing.

That was going to happen anyway right?
I'm actually fine with the club taking a calculated risk and punting for improvement from this list. The only other option is conceding we need a complete rebuild.

I'm not happy either but how is this a decision for the now? we could draft 2 guys that might not debut for 2 to 3 years.. it's stupid but it's not a for the now to save his job type thing.

Brett Anderson seems adamant its a good deal for Port - has mentioned it in a few tweets now. Be interesting to view the full picture which I'm sure will only emerge at the end of the trade period.
Until then, I will enjoy the melts.

We're keeping the picks - article on the Port site mentions our goal was to have three picks inside the top 30. The only way this works out somewhat okay for us is if it's bought us goodwill with GC and they trade us a second-rounder for Ah Chee. Otherwise, that's it.

I wonder if the club appreciate the off field disaster it will be if we have a shit year next year and no prospect of even getting an elite player for our trouble
Its not just chucking the baby out with the bath water its chucking your nuts and eggs in there too
