I've seen almost all of the Rebels home games and a couple away and my ratings in this draft on pure talent, Jarrod Berry is the one I believe is the "value" pick for us...WILL play and excel in the midfield and/or HF or HB if required, leadership/character in spades!

1. Hugh McCluggage
2 .Jarrod Berry
3. Willem Drew
4. Cedric Cox
5 .Cal Wellings
6. Tom Williamson
7. Jarrod Korewha
8 .Jarmaine Jones
9. Sam White
10.. James Gow

McCluggage long gone at our pick, Berry may be available only because he's had an injury compromised season and has been unable to get continuity to back up his stellar under age year, excellent overhead, great intercept mark, line breaker, long kick, contested beast, great size and build, kicks goals when played forward, athletically gifted, Drew I agree, once he bulks up a bit will compliment any AFL midfield, loves the contest and is deceptively quick, good overhead and works hard off the ball as well, Cox is quick, good overhead, great disposal ,but a bit too outside for my liking and not really a list need IMO, Wellings is underrated, needs to bulk up a bit but good speed, very good user by foot and good blend of inside/outside and has stepped up and shown great leadership when McCluggage, Drew and Berry have been unavailable through U18 Championship commitments etc and injury, Williamson I really like for a late/rookie pick, elite endurance, good skills, reasonably quick, played mainly off half back with stints in the midfield, Korewha been played almost exclusively in defence, IMO that's not his go, Wing/Attack is where he will excel, Sam White another a bit underrated, good overhead, equally adept down back or up forward, Jarmaine Jones fierce at the contest, great tackler, dangerous around goals, James Gow over age ball magnet but probably struggles to get drafted.

Two for 2017 Aiden Domic and Jordan Johnston.
Berry will make a good player but I think the time has come to only select players with elite foot skills and that counts him out. The modern game just doesn't allow you to give the ball away without being punished and we have too many ordinary kicks in our squad.

I'd like to see us go with Jy Simpkin. Projected top 5 pick who's dropped down after missing the whole season, like how we got Lever as a bargain. We don't finish low enough to get these elite talents, we should take them when we get lucky chances.

I've been watching Berry live for 2 years, his kicking is fine, the reason some of the so called eggspurts espouse this "ïnconsistent" kicking bullshit is they look at stats and not the actual game, his role at the Rebels is to take the game on and go long with his prodigious boot which often results in goals and score involvements, and of course there are inherent risks involved with that strategy. The Rebels game plan under coach Gerard Fitzgerald is an offensive one and in the most parts succeeds and I daresay would have gone close to winning the TAC Comp this season but for the untimely bad kidney injury to Jarrod in the first final.

I guess you've seen Simpkin play live too?
I saw a couple of Simpkin's games last year and my take was, good speed, good skills, smart footballer but lightly framed and much more outside than inside the contest much in the Wayne Milera mould.

IMO we need a big bodied, contested, inside/outside mid with other strings to their bow which Berry has in spades being great overhead, a very capable running/attacking back and always hits the scoreboard when played forward. I've seen what he's capable of with my own eyes, he's an exceptional footballer and a born leader. Originally from Horsham so little go home factor also a bonus.

Don't want players who's kicking is 'fine'. Want players who's kicking is elite. The modern game demands it.

We get dominated aerially. The WW contested marking mid is definitely what we need. We don't even contest well in pack situations these days.

If the want pick 1 it's definitely not for Ainsworth. He may not even go top 10.
Not necessarily , the top 10 is very even and they would all have different rankings eg Brodie could easily go no 1 or slide to 7 or 8 . Petrevski-Seton the same and Mccluggage who is starting to be consensus 1 could also end up 4 or 5 with slight question mark over contested ball

Oh really? Is that so? He's yet to debut. He had a season ending foot injury in April.

It doesn't matter how many times you say he's a mid. If his own club are calling him a small forward, I think I'll go with that. Sorry. Not sorry.
Mate I've watched him play neafl about 10 times and they play him on the wing > 75% of the time with only brief stints forward if he's unfit

He's not going to make it , he's not professional enough

That's funny, the first words on Pickett's profile on the GWS website are 'small forward'.

The point I'm obviously trying to make is that if you already have Toby Greene and Jarrod Pickett on your list, another small forward is pretty unlikely to be top of your shopping list. Especially when that small forward is a Vic Metro kid and you have four top line Academy players to choose from.

GWS will choose Setterfield, Macreadie, Mutch and Sproule. They just will. Wrap it up and send it to your mum. Done. Don't worry about them anymore.
Have you seen any of these guys play yourself or just going off what you read

Would not surprise if GWS passed on both Mutch and Sproule , even Macreadie is not guaranteed ( but likely )

Let's just see what happens

Yeah this was my initial thoughts, but I think McGrath is a mid long-term, who knows though
As you know I've been on the McGrath bandwagon since early in the season, IMO he could turn out to be the absolute gun player of this draft, talent on so many fronts, elite endurance, good pace, reasonably good kick, can play attacking defender or lock down on an opponent and suffocate them [ask Ben Ainsworth], clearance machine when in the midfield, athletically elite.....as close to the complete package as any in this draft. I have no doubt if he was another 8 - 10 cm taller he be almost a certainty to go No.1.

Jack Roughsedge (pictured) is the smoky, injuries have cruelled his career thus far but when he can get on the park he can dominate clearances and has footy smarts in spades, his handball in tight sets up so many plays.....will be interested to see if he's fit enough to test at the Draft Combine.

He will be gone in the first three picks. Taranto is going to be the one I would expect the GWS Giants to take. Does alot of things very well.
Given this is there a slight chance that one Petrevski- seton, Brodie , Scrimshaw get through until the teens in your opinion ?

How about venables ?

I agree that Taranto is skyrocketing into top 5-6

Do you think it's worth trading into the top
10 ? Eg GC's pick 8?

Sam Petrevski-Seton and Brodie won't imo. Too many runs on the board. Scrimshaw is one who could go top 3 or drop to our pick so I would consider him big time. Still not proven enough but has all the qualities of a skillful midfielder/defender.

Venables should be available at our pick or into the second round because of an injury he sustained outside of football. That's why he hasn't played for the second half of the year so I would tread with caution.

It could be an option for us but you have to ask yourself do we want one good midfielder who is going to be a B or A grader in the future or multiple C to B graders as we push for the premeirship. I would personally want one A grade junior midfielder who can create competition for spots and add something different to the midfield.

Mutch is very much a M. Crouch type player on what I've seen this year, racks up the possessions and like Crouch not overly quick, can't see where he's a particular list need given GWS have talented midfield kids running out of every orifice, most with more strings to their bow than Mutch.

This is what I think too bicks

If I was him I'd request not to be part of academy from here and enter open draft as he's not getting games there any time soon

Quick phantom draft at this stage of the year. This is assuming Hibberd, Prestia, JOM, Marchbank, Lyons, Cloke, Tuohy and Hartlett deals get through. I'm expecting us to get 2 2nds (one from GC, one for Henderson after our own which is currently at GWS).

You are right on the money captain

http://www.afc.com.au/news/2016-09-22/son-of-guns-mcg-date-

We'll get to see young Jackson Edwards along with other SA lads Callum Coleman-Jones, Darcy Fogarty, Isaac Hewson, Lachie Pascoe, Andrew McPherson, Nathan Kreuger and Thomas Schmusch in the AFL Grand Final Curtain Raiser at the MCG Grand Final Day. A couple of the the Ballarat boys I've seen plenty of in the supremely fast and skilled Aiden Domic and clever medium forward Jordan Johnston also named.

Having seen a lot of these Under Agers at TAC Cup Level and at the U18 Championships this year, boy oh boy this is a talent laden line up.

Can't say I'm surprised by this development, I knew the first time I saw Andrew McGrath play he was a very special footballer, as close to the complete package as you can get in this draft, he along with Hugh McCluggage are the real standouts for me in this draft. GWS look set to sell the farm to nab him..mind you they have multiple farms to trade with in thenext decade the way things are shaping. The AFL have let the genie out the bottle and it's going to take some extreme changes for them to get it back in the bottle. Sam Landsberger is normally on the money so it's most likely right!

GREATER Western Sydney could make a bold bid for Essendon’s No.1 draft pick as the Giants zero in on a replacement for Heath Shaw.

The Herald Sun understands the burgeoning club wants to rise up the order to help secure gun halfback Andy McGrath.

The Brighton Grammar school captain won 14 disposals in the final quarter last week to propel Sandringham Dragons into Sunday’s TAC Cup grand final.

McGrath, 18, plays in the mould of Western Bulldogs star Jason Johannisen and met the Giants last month.

Shaw, 31 in November, has won All-Australian honours the past two seasons and is contracted until 2018.

Recruiters believe that when Shaw retires McGrath could seamlessly fill the void.

The Bombers on Thursday confirmed they would trade the No.1 pick for the right price.
