Risky foot skills?
Shithouse foot skills!!

I took particular notice of his game against the Rebels only a while back, his kicking that day was diabolically bad, went at worse than 50% and it's a common thread with his football....his brother Ryan isn't a great kick either but he is far better than Dylan in that regard, and on what I saw last year Ryan's the better of the two.
Dylan's a worse kick but better player IMO
You definitely can have too many of him in your team and I think he doesn't suit us

He'd be great at teams lacking inside players , plays his best footy when stakes are high

His nationals were superb , he wasn't far behind Graham

He only fired when shifted Forward, he's not a Defender's bootlace IMO....he cries out Wing, Very Outside Mid to me.
He's a super talent but you're right re outside at this stage

Reckon he could go very early due to height and decision making

Sneaky chance for top 6

Jarrod Berry wins the 2016 Ben Mitchell Medal, won last year by Jacob Weitering...

POTENTIAL No.1 pick Jacob Weitering has added an honour to his growing resume, being awarded the Ben Mitchell Medal as the standout player in this year's NAB AFL Academy.

The key defender beat teammate Josh Dunkley by one vote for the medal, which is named after Mitchell, a former Academy member who died when he was 16 in a car accident in 2002.

At the end of each Academy intake every member of the squad votes for the players who best represent the values important to the program, with Weitering's influence acknowledged this season.

Is Berry Sliding in draft expectations ? .......is he a genuine midfield option, or an undersized KPP / 3rd tall? .......seems a similar set of discussions that applied to Jack Darling

He played off half back as an under ager, the plan was to move into the midfield from the get go this season however his shoulder operation at the end of last season had complications so he missed a fair chunk of the pre-season.

Then he had a few niggles with groin/knee early in the season so missed a bit of training and thus started down back when he first came back into the team but once he got up to full fitness he moved into the midfield and was dominant in the last 3 or 4 games he played hitting the scoreboard in bunches before his untimely kidney injury early in the first final that necessitated 5 days in the Box Hill Hospital. I've seen plenty of him up close, he's a contested beast at stoppages, elite overhead, good pace, booming kick [Brodie Smithesque] and positionally very capable midfield/back/forward...he's a gun and a true professional with his preparation, exemplary character, and leadership in spades. Whoever drafts him will have gained an A grader believe me. He's 192cm now and may still grow more. I've never been more sure about a youngster than I am with Berry. If he indeed slides it will only be because of lack of exposure this year. I've heard he hopes to play in Friday's Punt Road game but once again he won't be coming in off an ideal preparation. I've also heard some of the boys that played in the Grand Final pulled up sore on the Etihad surface so there might be a few late outs for that match?

Really keen to see how much of an impact Will Hayward has on Friday, in particular how many disposals he gets. Has some of the best hurt factor in the draft IMO, just that we barely see it at this stage.

Is Ben Jarman a realistic option for us?
Who would we prefer at our first? Berry or Venables?

Is he your Darcy Tucker this year Bicks?

Point to where anyone said Scharenberg was a third round pick....link please?
All I've seen are posters suggesting he has slipped down the ratings this season from what was considered to be a lock for top ten at the start of the year and could even slip through to the 2nd round.......and that there are others with more outstanding attributes i.e. speed, spread, scope for improvement...with Scharenberg what you see, is what you get.
He has one ability that I rate very highly. Gets the ball in tough contests and gets it to a teammate in a better position. Consistently. There's a bunch of midfielders playing this weekend that have those attributes and they weren't popular at draft time either. Scharenberg will play more games at a much higher standard than most of those drafted above him.

It's going to be wet so wouldn't surprise if he's quiet - pity it's not at Etihad

Prob good if he sneaks under the radar on Friday in any case

What is this U18 game actually for this week? Whose idea was it? Hope there are no serious injuries.
prev few years the best of U18s of allies have played the Australian U17s of all states on MCG GF day

Now they have 2 games ...18s internal of draft stars on Friday and 17s internal at G as curtain raiser

I think they are trying to build the interest and profile of the draft ( prob should have he 17s on Friday and vice versa to do this)

If you are a kid like McGrath or Mccluggage with nothing left to prove you'd consider pulling out with a slight hammy wouldn't you??!!!

Does nothing for those guys , only good for 5-10 fringe guys to help prove their worth

To be honest, I'd always be wary of a player who plays well in a game like this compared to a crunch game for their club or a national championship game

So the U18 all star game is at Punt Rd Oval ? ......pity it's not at Etihad as it's going to be wet, might head down and watch .....some magnificent coffee shops in Richmond

Good for guys like cockatoo the other year who hadn't had chance to show their best through injury

With guys with runs on the board - pointless

I'm really keen on Hayward. He will become an AFL midfielder, and a good one at that. The deep forward role he played at North allowed him to kick goals, but there dis more to him than that. I imagine he will get stuck in a forward pocket on Friday night, which probably won't be great for him.
I'm very high on this kid and would even potentially use a 1st pick on him to ensure we grabbed him. Happy to use a 3rd round pick on Ben Jarman as well. Good decision makers are useful regardless of size - see Caleb Daniel.

I'll be there
Have an appointment in Chapel street ....then i'll wander down .....only going so i can keep you honest re your appraisal ;)

Article with legendary Ballarat Rebels Coach Gerard Fitzgerald including video interview discussing the attributes of the lads in this years draft from the Hampden Football League in particular young indigenous mid/small forward Jarmaine Jones, Hugh McCluggage, Willem Drew, Cedric Cox, Jarrod Korewha and over ager former Rebel 200cm+ Ruck/Defender/Forward Rowan Marshall. I'd recommend having a listen to the video where you get Fitzgerald's inside info on the players. Rowan Marshall in particular with his skill set would likely be an ideal replacement for Lowden.

U18's All Stars game to be played at Punt Road Oval at 1.30PM Friday 30th and telecast live by Fox Footy.

U17's All Stars game originally down to be played at the MCG at 10.00AM Grand Final Day now shifted to Punt Road Oval and to be live streamed at afl.com.au
