If we had a 1st rounder and got him i'd be pissed off. KPF or KPD for a 1st round only.

Yeah Richmond's first rounder is going to be around pick 8, Jonty isn't a top 10 prospect I wouldn't think. No chance they give us that anyway.

Why do we need another Inside Mid?

This. Anyone thinking Jonty is another Matt, forget it. We need outside not inside and won't go Venables for this reason.

Foot skills and speed is what we need and because we don't have a top five pick, cross McGrath off so thats why Villis should be the first name on the board.

Cox would be handy but looking less likely to be available @ our 2nd rounder.

Florent too is maybe maybe not. Wouldn't be surprised if we took a bid at Kobe Mutch too. GWS Academy kid, balanced mid and finds plenty of it. I'd still have the others ahead of him.

If Taranto somehow falls through I'd go there too.

I'm biased being an Oakliegh Chargers man but my two picks would be Taylin Duman and Nick Larkey. Both will be smokeys but should slide through to our picks.

Will be interesting to see this draft as the standouts are not as clear cut as previous years. I bet any money collingwood will have a smokey or two floating around like usual.

Would love Collingwood to draft Kym Lebois or Jordan Gallucci.

With all the chitter chatter in the trade thread linking the club to absolute spuds and list cloggers - my unpopular opinion is that the club should refrain from trading in anyone who would cost more than a packet of chips, and should just hit the draft instead. I'm for contacting NDS, Harvey, Bartel and Maric and offering 1 year deals (with or without clauses for a 2nd year) as they wouldn't cost anything and steer the club on the right path for a season or two, but Mayne Hoskin-Elliott, Marchbank, Henderson and the likes I simply don't want because they're just not very good.

Unless we can pull an individual match winner like Walters then I'd rather hit the draft.

Favourite draft prospects:
Josh Battle | KPF - 192cm/90kg Eastern Ranges
Battle was superb in Dandenong's loss to the Murray Bushrangers on Sunday, kicking six of 12 goals for the Stingrays in a brilliant display. His goals came in a range of different ways, too, with some great set shots interspersed with snaps and ground level goals. Battle had been relatively quiet leading up to the finals but is a prospect who converts his chances when he gets them.
He has a great endurance base which should help him be a running tall option. I see him best as a supporting tall for Darcy Moore as he isn't quite a #1 tall forward; could be compared to Jack Gunston definitely who is more of a third tall, but with his height and athletic ability, I'd welcome him into the team any day.

22 goals in 7 games in TAC Cup this year, averaging 5 marks a game. Didn't set the world on fire but was very consistent and was in the club's best multiple times.

Griffin Logue | KPD - 193cm/92kg Swan Districts
My favourite and the one I am most hopeful of getting this year. He played senior football for Swan Districts this season and was used as a key defender for Western Australia at the under-18 championships. Ttwo weeks ago he played an outstanding game for his club's colts side as a tall midfielder, gathering 33 disposals and using his bigger frame to bust through stoppages. Very trusty lock-down defender with versatility and I don't think the Magpies would regret selecting him.

Averaged 14.5 touches a game in WAFL seniors at just 18 years of age, not too bad; just the 4 marks a game however he is that lock-down defender more so than that CHB type that Hurley and Reid are. I'm not sure if he'd step into the seniors immediately but with Marsh developing also and the fact that I think Brown will be staying in the short term, gives him time to develop.

Oliver Florent | Outside Midfielder - 183cm/74kg Sandringham Dragons
A really smooth, quick prospect who uses his running to propel himself through the midfield and across half-forward. Florent isn't the type of player to get huge numbers of disposals or dominate a game that way, but his sharp kicking and speed gives him a point of difference. His ability to run and baulk through traffic is good to watch and opens up space. He is still lightly framed so has some way to go physically, but he has a crack with defensive pressure and laid nine tackles in a game not long ago for the Dragons.

Looks to be that quick outside mid that we lack. His stats are worth more than they read, similar to a lot of smalls in the game like Brad Hill. If we could bring him in, I won't be complaining.

Sammy is the young man I want with our second round kick. Inconsistency in his decision making and kicking is the only thing that is letting him slide. Speed, power and endurance I believe are really good, would love the club gambling on this fella.

Add Brown, Daicos, Hampton and that would be my ideal draft.

Wouldn't be upset if we landed Battle thought he was good in the champs.

Can you imagine the rage if we take another kid with very suspect footskills? I like his explosiveness but I can see him sliding lots because of his skills.

Yes I imagine there will be some rage but at the end of the day he can play and you have to trust the club has the structures in place to fix these types of inadequacies.
Eg. IMO Pepper-Powell is already a much better kick than Toovey, he is more your Taylor Adams hit as miss type issues which IMO can be improved.
Furthermore I would like the club to draft Brown, Daicos and Hampton, no kicking issues with those three.

We're loading on up on 3rds with most trades and a occasional 2nd.. BRING ON THE FATHER SONS!

Just watched that video before - boy he's not a very good kick. That's a big improvement to make to become an AFL footballer but he's an inside beast; I'm thinking kind of like a Tom Rockliff, Matt Priddis type - absolute accumulator; efficiency and impact of possession sometimes questionable.

In the end, he's just another inside mid who doesn't fill a need. Will be watching him closely in the future however just for the nepotism factor.

I blame threads like this, the reason why a guy like Bontempelli is at the dogs, STFU, talk about potential duds.
If it makes you feel any better, Dogs were all over him.
Spoke to all his teachers, the librarian etc - it's a myth they took him because we liked him.

Haha, yeah I always laugh when people say the dogs took him cause it got out we were into him. What a load of crap. Dalrymple is one of the best for a reason.

Don't be silly Anzac, the professional Bulldogs recruiting team (who have outperformed our team for years) had no idea who to pick with their prized top 4 draft pick so they just googled who Derek Hine was interested in and took him.
