3 of the top 9? You must really rate Perrymen.
I wouldn't know but most of the experts have Taranto and Setterfield in the top 8 and Perryman thereabouts.
We're certainly not complaining.

It's true McCarthy is valued very little in the trade however GWS really just needed to get a draft pick ahead of any likely bid on Settersfield and they've done that so the 'intangibles' of the trade still stack up very well for GWSPick 3 for 7, 34, 72 and McCarthy. Based on the point system it values McCarthy as very little but that's probably fair given how his issues and the point system overrated pick 34 massively compared to the 3-7 switch. Wouldn't say that was selling the farm.
Pick 2, 31, 51, 60 for 3 and 16. Purely on points and with the academy kids I'd say this one is a win for GWS.
Will be very pissed of as a WCE fan.
SPP is a massive wce fan has been training with the club all year, and has been
working with our development coaches.
He desperately wants to play with us.
So will be upset if he doesn't go to us.
He's a real loyal kid as well so if goes interstate will probably stay there.
He's a future captain in the making.
We're certainly not complaining.

What time is the draft? Cant find that info anywhere.
They have been doing mock drafts all year though. Twomey did one every month I believe. It's not quite like the US, but the coverage is there.
Mate, have you actually been following the draft coverage all year or not? Andersen and Twomey have been putting out their top 30 each month since the beginning of the season.
I'm a big follower of the NBA, so I do know where you are coming from. But Australian sports media just doesn't have the money in it for there to be in depth coverage from multiple outlets like there is in the States. Twomey is the closest thing we have to Chad Ford. And there is next to no coverage of the TAC Cup on FoxFooty or on the AFL website.
Twomey and Andersen both host draft podcasts, and have given us pretty good coverage of the U18's, and even a little on the U17's. They both do a top 25/30 each month with player descriptions and why they rate kids where. They get to what games they can to cover the kids, and watch more tape. But their media outlets don't have the budget to fly them all over the country and pay for hotels. So they have to relay on their club contacts, which is no different to what the U.S. media draft followers do. Twomey even spoke about this in a recent podcast.
Both Anderson and Twomey have spoken about why they rate kids where, and why their final mock drafts, with all their contacts information, will vary greatly from their own personal power rankings.
I wonder how much you actually follow the draft coverage, to make such a post.
Mate, I think you're missing a bit of context there. The NBA and NFL are great models to work towards, but let's not kid ourselves. The AFL aren't their size and never will be. They have a domestic population of 300m to work with, plus they've got a worldwide following. The AFL have a domestic population of 25m to work with, and minimal international appeal. MLB/NBA/NFL budgets compared to the AFL is like Google vs some guy operating out of his parents' basement. Frankly I'm surprised our coverage is as good as it is.I have mate, I also happen to follow the draft coverage of several other sports. If you actually followed them too I wonder how you would not realise that it's night and day in comparison to make such a post as this.
Grundy was pretty much ready to go wasn't he?Anyone else have a sense of deja vu regarding where Tim English may be drafted.
He has been mooted as a top 10 pick for the past month or so and now in the last few days leading up to the draft, its a strong possibility he may fall to the Bulldogs pick at around number 19.
Very similar to the Brodie Grundy situation at 2012 draft.
Actually Twomey has been doing pretty much that all year. Actually the phantom drafts Twomey did were earlier and more extensive than the pieces you listed - more than merely names.

Yes. Grundy was ready to go and rated top 3 until about a week or so before the draft when clubs suddenly got cold feet over drafting a ruckman early. English as a project player, has been the subject of debate for weeks and weeks though. Fairly different situations.Grundy was pretty much ready to go wasn't he?
English will take 2 - 3 years..Yes. Grundy was ready to go and rated top 3 until about a week or so before the draft when clubs suddenly got cold feet over drafting a ruckman early. English as a project player, has been the subject of debate for weeks and weeks though. Fairly different situations.
Hard to tell really. Your ruck coverage is good enough that you can afford to take him on imo (most of you will be pleasantly surprised by Witts). Don't you have a monster of a kid coming through your academy next year though? Seems like English would be overkill if that's the case.English will take 2 - 3 years..
Him coming to us in the top 10 would be a disaster i think.
Yeah Crossley next year. His brother is supposed to be as good if not better.. Which I think is the year after.Hard to tell really. I think she said it was coming on Thursday night on Twitter, so probably. Is Emma Quayle's coming out today?
Isaac Cumming now invited to the draft. Think there may be a few sliders: Brodie? Scrimshaw?
