shit no - they all die on their run - blair is finished - nahas never got started - they have little flexibility - goal-sneak or nothing - if there are equally talented players and one is 5 feet tall - clearly you take the bigger body

I dream that we can call out SPS pick 4, followed by English, Rotham and if not Gallucci somewhere between pick 8 to 10 (achieved through other trades)
That would be a veryy satisfactory 1st round.
Then Clark, Drew or Roughsedge would complemented the talent Already bagged. Also the trade with the Giants and in PSD attract JOM.
I trust in Silvani and Boltan to do the competent thing.
Go Baggers

YeAp, a good tall player is always better than a good small player Jack's golden words and have always held true.

Do you think Ben Ainsworth will be that good? If so, we take him.
As good as Greg? He'll never be that good. :)

He is my 4th fav Victorian this year for what it's worth, maybe even 3rd by seasons end.

Will Brodie 189cm
Huge McCluggage 185cm
Andrew McGrath 179cm
Ben Ainsworth 179cm

I haven't seen the champs this year but I really liked what I saw of Ainsworth last year, he is powerful and skilful. Height shouldn't be the recruiting factor here, running ability will be though. Anyway, I think we will lose our pick this year and start the draft with the pies first so we won't even get the chance to draft Ainsworth.

The kid has strong overhead marking ability, is quick off the mark, has a nice leap and has x-factor. He also goes hard at the ball.

He wouldn't be rated so highly without these qualities.

With our forward line, we need a small forward like him. With Silvagni, Charlie and McKay being the main targets. I've lost interest in investing in Lamb and Sumner, they'll do for now but they eventually need to be replaced.

I would be stoked if we got another top 10 pick and spent it on Venables. He would round off that forward line quite nicely until he develops the ability to play predominantly as a mid. Sort of like how Dangerfield spent his early years playing forward before making the move to the middle.

Both Venables and Ainsworth know how to win the ball and can impact games. Let's get them both!

Is that a known fact about the GCS late first round pick for Everitt? Surely we would have jumped at that offer.
I think that the deal was, their late first round pick for Everitt and one of our two second round picks. However, we needed both of those 2 second round picks to try and prise Tomlinson loose from GWS. When Fremantle walked back into the trade centre that morning looking to force the issue with McCarthy, the Tomlinson deal fell through and Footscray popped up with pick 11 for our two second round picks which was to SOS more enticing.

Absolutely.
And to think we could have had him at #7. That deal will haunt us for years.
2006 will haunt me more really.

Just imagine if you will swapping the following player around...

Instead of Hampson (pick 17), we took Jetta (18) or Tippett (32).
Instead of Grigg (pick 19), we took one of Todd Goldstein (37), Bachar Houli (42), Kyle Reimers (47), Will Schofield (50), Lindsay Thomas (53), Robbie Gray (55), Josh Hill (61), Tyson Goldsack (63), Justin Westhoff (71).

And then work down the list and match the players listed above with the relevant picks we had:
Mark Austin (35)
Clint Benjiman (51)
Joe Anderson (67)

And thats just one draft where we completely ****ed up every pick apart from pick 1 - Bryce Gibbs... although we could have taken Boak, Selwood, Frawley, or Reiwoldt.

I can't see that we wouldn't have accepted this offer as Weideman would have been ours.........and McKay would have been an Adelaide player (We would have taken Curnow next, regardless) SOS rated Weideman highly.

Don't know whether the next selection may have serviced us though, as Cuningham may have been taken at that #16 anyway.
I think that a lot of us armchair experts rated Weideman highly :D

Lost me with Leroy Jetta and Kyle Reimers.

Got any highlights? I really like the look of Marshall. Needs to bulk up though.
Marshall would be a longer term project than McKay I reckon. And I agree with HBF about him. Seems a bit conditional in his play.

I'll say it again. The CFC was so ****** in every department at the time, all we would have done would have been turn these "if only" nominations of yours into broken down de-listed hacks within 2 years.

So... we don't really have to take them remember... there were much better options at all our picks... Joey Anderson and we could have had Westhoff...

And we could have had Tippett's little brother (just to keep him from getting too lonely and buggering off) with our third rookie draft pick after Jacobs and Jamison... or our 4th rookie pick... which would have meant we didn't take C. Cloke with our second PSD pick that year... which wouldn't have been all that bad really.

More than likely unfortunately... we had a habit of taking AA u18s and turning them into hacks.

Honest question...how is his circumstances different to Daisy's considerong the money he is possibly asking?
Daisy's ankles were always going to be an issue. All it will take is one more medium grade 2 tear and his career will be over. Patella tendonitis isn't really structural like grade 2/3 ankle ligament tears are. If there is no structural damage to the knee itself, then there will not be any issues as the tendonitis will eventually correct itself. You can't regrow your ligaments.

As for the money that his management is throwing out, I reckon that's just to try and scare off the tyre kickers. Once negotiations really start, the price will come down dependant on the length of the contract.
