I haven't heard anything about this? Although someone said something along these lines on the Saints board, would be interesting to hear if someone had reports on what type of ratbag he apparently is

Agreed... if he is a Larikin and likes playing pranks ect. will get on fine with Tex, Crouch Brothers ect... lets be fair, Roo was part of the Ramsgate night a while back, if he comes in under that level, were fine

If a ****head he might struggle a little more

Each to their own. I personally don't see that development in Villis, hence why he's not even in my top 40. Who knows who will be right, though.
this is why I like to sit out the drafting discussions, not even going to pretend I've got eyes over all the young guys coming through just like I won't pretend to know anything about who's going to win the Melbourne Cup like many do ;)

I agree, this mantra "Always take the best available player" never really sat comfortably with me.
Sometimes NEEDS are more important and as we have weakened our midfield by getting rid of Lyons we definitely need mid-fielders.
Write it on the white board draft day " Upgrade our midfield!"
I agree. 'Best available' is not a clear cut call anyway. I'd be betting quite a few KPPs will go as 'best available' before pick 13 and there should be some quality 'best available mid' choices at 13. Surely we shoul be able to blend 'best available' and 'needs'.

you can judge what idiots we are after, I spend way too much time watching this stuff , beats a Carlton or Richmond game on Friday night

Agreed but at the moment it's the only non negative thread going on our board. The Lindys are ruling the asylum

You are correct this year
Last year at doedee's pick there wasn't much on offer . Gresham was available I think would have been ok but small but good player Balic and Mathieson were the other ones and I'm glad we didn't pick either of those

This year is the year for mids , Hamish knew that

Tucker was available...:)

Strong tip. We will draft a teenager first and the Melbourne Cup winner will have 4 legs and be brown.

be quiet Bruce... geeze that guy is a clown when the cup is on...

"the first time EVER the cup has been one by a male jockey born under a full moon on a Tuesday wearing red stripes on a 3 year old, what a remarkable achievement."

Who is the mid that was touted at top 10, but broke his leg or something?
The 2 players that broke legs that were predicted to be likely top 10 choices last year are Jy Simpkin who had played mainly as small forward up to then and Alex Witherden who had almost exclusively played off half back, it is merely people projecting that they could furnish into midfielders, neither are proven mids, that's for the recruiting staff to assess.

Larke medallists and their draft position since 2005:
2005: Marc Murphy - #1
2006: Tom Hawkins - FS #41 (though widely considered to have been worth a top 5 pick on the open market at the time)
2007: Cale Morton - #4
2008: Jack Watts - #1
2009: David Swallow - #1 / Andrew Hooper - #35 (Rookie)
2010: Harley Bennell - #2
2011: Stephen Coniglio - #1
2012: Lachie Whitfield - #1
2013: Dom Sheed - #11
2014: Christian Petracca - #2
2015: Josh Schache - #2

Any particular reason why SA Captain Jack Graham doesn't appear to be in the mix for the top 20 in any of the phantoms that have been put together so far?

Poor fella doesn't kick it so well. At all. Speed and endurance not high level. One thing he does is get his hands on the ball at contests and doesn't fumble and he does that better than just about anyone. But it's hard to be a one trick pony these days. We already have M Crouch who plays his game so would fall off my chair if we picked him, although may be gone by 43 and 13 is out of the question.

Haha the old "late birthday" thing. I must admit I've liked plenty of draftees over the years only to say "oh dear, February birthday. Back to the drawing board."

Be interesting to see if there is any discernible trend in the afl player rankings by birth month.

First 120 players in the AFL ratings, organised by birth month, for an average Player Rating score. Looks like this in column:

Brilliant. Nice work. Doesn't appear to be any trend.

I'd say the best footballers are conceived during the bye rounds and immediately after the season ends

Cal Twomey had us taking Simpkin in his last mock draft last week or so.
