I want to see the evidence. I haven't seen anything that's said he's had a troubled past. Difficult, maybe, but not troubled.

Yes, but where did that one media outlet get the source from? It has to come from somewhere. Bishop was the first to say it, and now CF has heard (albeit second-hand) the same. Tend to think the interest is definitely there.
You've got me wrong. I just want to see the article where they've said he's had a 'troubled' past. I'm not going to question the information. That's far from being a hypocrite.

Besides, the information about who we're chasing has to come from somewhere. We've been linked to a number of players (Berry, Hayward, Cox to name a few). Now, some of this is obviously smoke and mirrors, but there's no way it can all be that.

You asked where the media outlet got its source from., Im asking you the same about Adelaides draft prefences

Regardless, Im sure Adelaide has been interviewed 50 plus players whom they have spoken with, as have all clubs do, it doesnt mean they want 50 players? The only people that know the order of their preference of those 50 are the clubs themselves!

Tell me if you honestly think, the Adelaide Football club will give any indication which way they are leaning?

The only talk around Angwin and the AFC in that draft year was similar to Dangerfields year and that was the Local Boy v Interstate. Most talk in 2000 was around Kane Cornes and how the Crows missed a father-son by 1 year ( rule since changed) and how we should have selected him at 7 instead of Angwin. The second lot of commentary on Angwin was about his connection to Ayres and that WAS brought up early but after we drafted him once it was recognized.

And people think McGeregor v Pavlich was a draft blunder, how the hell did we let Cornes go for Angwin , Ports only one club 300 game player AA and B and F winner

Angwin was a genuinely talented footballer. Could have even been better than Cornes. The problem with him was not a lack of talent, it was the mess between his ears. Ayres was the head coach at the time and had family connections with Angwin. Ayres was convinced that he could keep Angwin on the straight & narrow, and overruled Fantasia (who wanted Kornes). Turns out that nobody could control Angwin...

The McGregor vs Pavlich thing is overblown. We were able to take 1x 17yo player in that draft. We picked McGregor at #75 in the draft (he now holds the record for most games by a #75 draft pick). At that point in time, McGregor was the better performed of the two players. Pavlich had a breakout year, and went at #4 in the following year's draft. Adelaide probably would have done things differently if they'd been able to see into the future, even 12 months, but they didn't have the benefit of a time machine. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Seriously, 300 game player????????????

If you get 100 games from any pick you have had a win. If our Pick 13 gets to 100 then I will consider it a win.

!st rounder I would want 150 games minimum any other pick 100 games although That would make them a so so AFL player. To get to 300 games they are not only very good players but freaks

100 percent correct. Also I believe every other team picked a 17 year old as well that year and not one played a single game. We identified 2 x 17 year olds that played at a high level for many years and somehow get flack for picking the wrong one. Far from being a stuff up this should be seen as a great achievement by our staff.

Sure we have missed on some picks, who hasn't, but this one is just Rucci special. Similar to the Reilly vs Dal Santo debate when the 4 picks previous never played a game and those clubs could have picked either.

Getting to 300 games is as much about durability as it is talent. There are plenty of players who only managed 150, but whose careers were ruined by injury, who are better than half the 300+ game players.

Geezus this whole idea we picked the wrong one is just so stupid. Pick #75 and you get 154 games out of the man and still people say he was a wrong choice. Amazing stuff! That is some of the BEST drafting a club and its fans could ever want. As Vader posted if time travel existed and we knew Pavlich was going to develop the way he did, logically he would have been the choice. This is the key FACT: At the time of the draft, Ken McGregor was by far the BETTER player. Deal with it people. Also, Yippett would have been traded to the Lions.
Pavlich had a great career no doubt but what we should be rejoicing about is 2 young lads from the same club went on to be drafted and have great careers.

Same as Dal and Radar, both fine players as you pointed out. You and few of us older blokes have it right, I just felt compelled to make it very clear to those that can not see past their noses.

You actually dont realise what an effort it is to get to 300 do you?

Tell me how many players have played 300 for the Melbourne Footy club a club that has been around since 1859?

300 games is a significant milestone, one that less than 1% of all AFL players achieve. However, it is as much a testament to a players' durability as it is to their talent. I don't doubt the talent required to get there - but you seem to be completely ignoring the durability factor.

Gary Ablett Snr is generally regarded as one of the best players to have ever played the game. He played 248 games. Is he a lesser player than David Neitz, Melbourne's only 300+ game player?

Chris Judd played 279 games, and Michael Voss played only 210. Are they lesser players than John Blakey, who played 359? Are they lesser players than Tyson Edwards, who played 321 games for Adelaide?

John Coleman is arguably the game's most famous Full Forward, having kicked 537 goals in just 98 games. So highly was he regarded that the VFL named their goal kicking medal after him. Is he a lesser player than Bernie Quinlan, who kicked 817 from 366 games?

The number of games played is not a determinant of how good or great a player is/was, or how talented they were. It's an indicator, given that only talented players are good enough to be selected 300+ times. There are many players who didn't reach that milestone who are/were far, far better players than those who did.

Could Angwin have been better than Kornes, if his head wasn't a complete mess? It's a purely hypothetical question, one to which we can never know the answer. What we do know is that he had a bucket load of talent, but that he never made the most of it because he was a complete sociopath.

Is that good or bad. Do GWS want to take McLuggage or whatever his name is? Or do they have an academy kid they need to bid on?
what im hearing is that gws will then take taranto who i like more thatn Lugg.
again the Cox to adelaide rumors getting stronger. general feeling is there will be plenty of inside mids latter on in the the draft but not many of the Cox type, so we may go early for him.
Will be awesome to watch betts/cameron/milera/cox in the same team though if it happens.
