what im hearing is that gws will then take taranto who i like more thatn Lugg.
again the Cox to adelaide rumors getting stronger. general feeling is there will be plenty of inside mids latter on in the the draft but not many of the Cox type, so we may go early for him.
Will be awesome to watch betts/cameron/milera/cox in the same team though if it happens.

Plus our second round pick, Hampton.

Does anyone know what is happening with GWS and their potential loss of picks?
AFL still haven't decided yet.

They're like that annoying person at McDonalds who sits there for a minute ummming and ahhhing before ordering a Big Mac. Surely it shouldn't take this long?

I'd also like to see some evidence of this. Have heard nothing of the kind. Close and supportive family. He moved around a bit, as you do for school and football if you live somewhere as far away as Halls Creek. That's hardly troubled.
I just stated what i read, not going to provide a litany of links to substantiate what i post .....just believe it or not

Outside mid they can play at half back and half forward
I get that, but unless they see Hampton or Menzel moving in full time in the middle we're gonna end up with a whole bunch of these outside mid flankers.

I won't rubbish him or the selection if we do pick him, but it's putting extra pressure on Reid to pull in guys through trades/FA and we haven't recruited an A grade talent that way since Betts.

There seems to be a fair bit of talk about Cox a couple of days out from the draft. Similar to Himmelberg last year?

Imagine the meltdown if we did pick him at 13

WW would likely get a ban for a day or two :D :p
No melts from me , i highly highly doubt Cedric Cox will be taken at our pick .......inside mid did we say we need .....suddenly lots in favor of taking another outside player

Can people make up their minds as to what the team needs are exactly

You should be able to get an inside Mid with pick 80, what are you worried about! hahahahaaha

See DD post earlier - I really don't think that's true

We have a lot of inside players still crouch X 2 , Sloane , CEY, Gore , Greenwood and Wigg and Knight as hybrids ( not including thommo ) - that's more inside guys than a lot of clubs have

Outside we have Atkins , Seedsman , Milera ( won't include Dmac)

There is more blue chip in the first group still

As DD#23 mentioned somewhere earlier it appears Pyke wants to change game style further and having more outside players either speed/ kicking ability is crucial to this

Also pick 43 - there are abundant inside mid options of quality likely to be available and one will be snapped up there IMO

The player at 43 will also have an ability to go forward so you can likely rule out Sharenberg

This is only opinion !! Feel free to criticise it Friday night

My problem isn't so much who we have, but quality of who we have. Thommo is toast, Douglas looked rubbish this year, CEY isn't a guarantee, I don't think Gore will ever be a star (and I have my concerns he won't ever be anything but a depth player), Wigg isn't a huge inside beast and Greenwood is still a huge ? at this stage. I don't count either of Sloane or Brad Crouch as purely inside players, they're both pretty well rounded.

And once you're down to 43 then you start finding the guys with holes in their games and it's still not a guarantee we pick a midfielder with a "beat available" policy.

Like I said, I won't crap all over the club or the guy they draft just because I have a different opinion and Pyke could become a genius if he plans on bringing in a host of more hybrid options, but then that doesn't mean much if we still trot out the same team as this year.

the argument is do we need a huge inside beast?

No, I don't think we do, but I also think we don't need a pure outside player either. We need another well rounded midfielder like Sloane or Brad Crouch.
Someone like Venables/Brodie/Berry.

But as long as our 13 (really wanting and hoping it's a mid) becomes an out and out gun, I'll be happy.

Maybe the answer is we need an Inside/Outside beast of a Player that can rest Forward or Play of the Halfback.
Our weakness is at the stoppages with the run out of the packs or stopping the run.
I personally do not want a pure outside mid who stays off the ball and waits.
Late edit as we already have one of them.

much like people were pinning Milera as a "pure" outside player after the draft last year I think they're equally wrong about looking at Cox that way.

admittedly not much vision of Cox to make a judgement on, but both look more like Burgoyne than Brad Hill IMO.

KPP for mine.

I think we are after a midfielder who can play inside and outside like Sloane. I don't think we are after a purely inside mid. Just because fans assume it, it doesn't mean the club is of the same opinion.
