http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-10-12/trade-wrap-pressure-on-the-hawks-to-seal-omeara-dealThe Giants are believed to have discussed Pickett with North, who is contracted for 2017, as part of a larger trade that could also involve GWS midfielder Paul Ahern. However, while the Roos remain open to a deal involving Pickett, 2014's No.4 draft pick appears determined to head to Ikon Park, where he knows former Giants Jed Lamb, Andrew Phillips, Lachie Plowman and Liam Sumner, and fellow West Australian Patrick Cripps. If the Giants can't reach a trade with the Blues, who are also seeking to broker a deal for GWS key defender Caleb Marchbank, Pickett at this stage would prefer to serve out the final year of his contract at GWS.
what would be the price for both Pickett and Ahern? my theory is that due to the absolute plethora of talent on your list, you test these kids out for a couple of seasons and then shop around the ones you don't rate as highly to get points for academy etc. Is this a fair call or are both these players rated and can actually play?
He hasn't changed still very shy, dont think anyone will manage to get him in front of the Cameras much. Not that important I guess.Cam McCarthy interview, post trade. His opening comments are that he's thankful for the time at GWS, sat this year out as he didn't think he could play his best football.

Good luck with that pick #3, I hope it proves to be gold for you.
How embarrassing for North Melbourne, kid can't get a game and doesn't want to know about them.
They are in so much pain...8 years of misery I reckon.
Youre basing all that on what reporters are saying! So many times you see reports of players going everywhrre and then end up elsewhere! The roos a few weeks back were linked to that many guys over 28 it wasnt funny yet we havent got one yet and now have been linked to all young blokesNot sure what North's beef is with us.
Apparently they were the rival team initially into Tuohy and offering a larger and longer contract than us.
Then we hear they have joined the race for Hrovat when it looked like we had him done deal...again a a larger contract offering.
Now they trying to get Pickett lol.
That's how I read it too. Literally, he's not playing but he's on the list so that we only have to count 50% of his payout/salary under the cap.
He was contracted for next year but it was an automatic extension that was in his existing contract. We didn't re-sign him.Is this because he was recently recontracted for next year? Hard to understand this, either its a grand plan around the list reduction stuff or making the best of a total balls up by re-signing somebody who changed his mind and wanted to retire a few months later. Or even option C he pulled the pin to keep someone like Corr from asking for a trade which would fit in with how highly he is spoken about as a person.
Glad Patful came, in 2015 I was always a bit more confident knowing he was down back when the ball went there. Get it's time, and pity he wasn't sent out with a GF at least.
Emma Quayle on Twitter:
Lions get: 3 & 16.
Giants get: 2, 31, 51 & 60.
Points work out well for Giants with those back end picks
Don't need pick 1 now. Dons won't bid on setterfield as they won't risk missing the true number 1Either McGrath or McCluggage fits a need and provides a gun.
Winning!
Brisbane and GWS always come up with fair deals to help each other out. No doubt next year when we need the academy points a reverse trade to this might happen. Great relations between both clubs. It's good to see.
