Jake Barrett: We are the front runners for him and seem to be very interested with port. A deal won't be done until the above are and could be done within the last 3 days. Also depends on how the list is and who is delisted.
what would his worth be and anything on him would be appreciated :)

Surprise surprise this thing is a disgrace policy on the run typical afl. Next step (and it's happening) is the academy being slashed. Cutting the club off at the knees before we are even successful why would you bother.
Makes me love the club even more. Fight the ****ers and win the flag. Let the bitches cry in the streets over our flag wins and we can point and say we had no benefits at the time compared to you suburb clubs. Enjoy your chook raffle mexicans.

No offence but why would he want to go to Hawthorn if he's seeking more opportunities? If he's not cracking our midfield, he's not cracking yours. He'd be one of Box Hill's better players, but he'd never get out of there.

If I were him I'd be heading to Brisbane - almost a guaranteed 22 games a year up there. Port is a possibility, and certainly if he's after senior time then a heap better than Hawthorn.

He won't be in our best 22 in 2017, but maybe the hawks have said get use to the game plan play 1 year in vfl and when the likes of mitchell, hodge, burgers, gibbo and lewis go you will be in the best 22 by 2018?
He is also the cousin of luke bruest....i don't know if that has something to do with his choice aswell.

But aren't we getting Breust?;):p:eek:

If he wants to play with his second cousin he might as well stay here.

seems fair. you guys need more talent anyway :'(:'(:'(
Too much is barely enough. Not meant as dissrespect but I'm not so sure he couldn't make the side. He does have pace and endurance and his tackles stick. Then I guess I fancied Townsend too and he can't make the Tigers best 22, that's a real worry.

if we took one of your best 22 he could :)
we need a mid and you need small fwd for when stevie goes :)

In all serious now. i think this would be good for us and you.

It's not a silly suggestion, I love the idea of Bruest. I'd bleed if any of Shiel, Kelly, Williams, Scully, Whitfield, Ward, Hopper, Kennedy or Coniglio left though. They define the Giants, and our future in my view. Time will come when the club has a different list but we're not there yet.

Hey, Stevie J has three premierships, like Breust - but an additional couple of All Australians and a little thing called a Norm Smith Medal - and if we only paid a future 5th rounder for him then I think I'm being generous offering a 3rd for Breust.

I'm happy we aren't looking likely to get #1 if he doesn't play every game he will cite leaving for opportunity and we will get bugger all for him as he isn't a KPF. If he plays really well then a Victorian team swoops with a big money offer and we get bugger all for him.

Stay local
Who exactly are you referring to as local?

Academy boys who the club have been developing since they were 12/13
Yep. Sorry, I meant more specifically. Do we have academy boys who will be around when we have our first pick? And if yes, what are their names?

Also, don't we have to bid on them or something? Obviously we don't just get them for free, right? And they would want to be good enough if we bid on them.

Sorry about all the noob questions.

Well that's a complete crock of s#*t. We get the same amount of money as everyone else but have to pay two extra players than everybody else.

Can anybody explain to be how that is "fair" or "equal"

Effing Rubbish.
I don't know anything about this drafting caper, but it doesn't sound fair to me! Surely with two additional players (why do we have two additional players?), we would have an adjusted cap to reflect this?

We haven't done anything yet, we haven't won anything yet and we aren't guaranteed to win anything. Yet, we're being punished for making good decisions with our list and showing some potential that we won't be a basket case side.

We'd better bloody win a flag in the next few years or somebody at the AFL will have a please explain issues to them! Pricks!

They are in different places in their careers though. Stevie J was not wanted and we got him cheap, that's great and he's great value. Dont really get the relevance to Bruest's trade value though. If you believe we dont need him fair enough, I know you know our list well, but I disgree on this one.

Pick the academy kids if they are the best players available or serve a positional need.If not pick a player from the draft. For if we don't we end up with a few Steele like scenarios where he's a local but can't crack our best22 so he leaves anyway. If we are after Mcrgrath because he's the best replacement for Heath Shaw when he retires I will back the club in.We should be able to pick up other academy players with our other picks.Especially once we have traded Hoskin Elliot,Stewart etc

(why do we have two additional player), we would have an adjusted cap to reflect this?

When we entered it was widely perceived that we would have problems retaining players (who would want to live in that s#*thole that is Western Sydney playing for that crappy no good loser team that nobody wants? etc).

Also, because we were new it might take us some time to figure out who we wanted to keep and who gelled best.

To that end we started out with 50 players on our list (with an adjusted salary cap to pay for them) and we were given a timetable to reduce that number.

The timetable should still be in the opening post of the players contracts thread.

The original timetable would have bought us into line in 2019. Now for the most part we've been ahead of schedule and not using all our available places - but this is just having the rug completely pulled out from under us. We've made contract commitments based on salary caps and list reduction timetables and this is just a victard overreaction to some minor infield success.

Thank you for clarifying that. :)
