I'm just sick of all our players going to Carlton, Collingwood, and yes, Melbourne.

 It's not a good feeling but doesn't hurt anything like it would to see Shiel or Lobb or some of the other guys in another clubs colours. Even Marchbank I can deal with, the other guys left for opportunies and good luck to them, from me.

I think of all the Giants/Blues players Marchbank will be the one that got away.Hope I'm wrong but i see him being a more rounded defender than Corr or Tomlinson

Just an observation but I really admire the way GWS are handling the Jake Barrett scenario. Giants seem intent on doing what is right for Jake should he see more opportunities elsewhere and this evident by not delisting him yet. It would seem he is being given time to decide. You guys seem really mature on your list management and whilst you lose some players you still remain focused on list needs.

I think Jake could be a good contributor, maybe not a star but who knows. Seems the right age and skill set for Hawks as our list continues its transition.

Who are some names you will probably see on the trade table around this time next year? I'm sure ST kilda will be lurking around and I need someone to follow closely from gws cheers

Every single one of them. None of them want to be here and it doesn't matter whether they signed a three or four year contract. Every one of them wants out and will be on the trade table next year.

Give it a break. At least wait until pre-season starts befor fartarsing around wth next year.

Be nice. Poor bloke has already written of 2017.
A bit cowardly though, throwing it in so early.

Was genuinely wondering who you guys think might be on there way out considering you do need to trade players out every year in order to bring more in, maybe fringe players that could seek more opportunity

We still have this draft to go you know.

And a whole season before next trade period.

Impossible to speculate at this stage, most if not all of the likely guys just left.
We haven't delisted anyone either (yet)
If pushed I'd say Simpson, maybe Mohr if he's fit and doesn't get a regular game, doesn't look like a long list, unlike this time last year

So do you. Every team does. Minimum 3 out, 3 in. Isn't that the rule?

Who are you trading out next year?

What picks do we currently have in 2017 draft?
St Kilda's second rounder & Collingwood's second rounder. We've also traded away our third rounder.

Yet to be signed but not delisted:
Jake Barrett (Greater Western Sydney)
Tom Lonergan (Geelong)
Jarryd Blair (Collingwood)
Josh Cowan (Geelong)
Tom Downie (GWS)
Zac Clarke (Fremantle)

Interesting that Simpson and Mohr don't appear on this list. Is that just poor journalism, or have those two re-signed and it's just not been announced?

I guess we should see with list lodgement tomorrow.

Probably Dempster retired wright delisted minchington delisted and gilbert delisted and either Holmes or Lewis pierce probably,
Look at it from our perspective. Every player on our list is trying to develop and find a spot in our best 22. Your asking us to predict who wont make it. We have more respect for our players than to write them off before the off season starts. You cant tell anyway, my record at predicting who will make it is pretty appalling.

Well, apart from the fact that I'd like GWS to be making announcements about its player retentions and releases, that makes sense. We needed to release one more of the main list to use that last pick from trading in the ND, and Jake was supposedly looking around for another club to offer him opportunity. I wish him well. And if no-one picks him up as a DFA, I'd be happy to see him back at GWS.

Presumably then, despite no announcements, Simpson, Downie & Mohr are all signed up for at least another year - I suspect just the one for some if not all of them.

So that clears our starting point for the ND. 32 players on the main list; 6 to 8 spots available (I still think we only need 38 minimum despite the comments about '40' during trade period) with 11 picks. That being so, we should see McGrath/McCluggage/Ainsworth at pick 2 plus 4 to 5 of the main academy targets - Setterfield, Perryman, Macreadie the prime targets - with available points due to where we need to match bids to decide on the last couple of spots. Really early bids could see us need to forego both Sproule & Mutch, or go into deficit; a reasonable range probably gets one with perhaps a small deficit, and late bids could get both. That will tell whether there's a spot for a late (unbid) selection or two, such as Sam Fisher (who might get chosen to keep a Canberra connection) or even an upgrade from the rookie list for Sam Reid. Should be some selections at the rookie draft too. With Barrett released and Lachie's potential issues the list is looking a touch thin for midfield depth so I wonder if Mutch is above Sproule on our target priority list.
