Is it just me or is it increasingly likely the Lions will get a priority pick?

Reckon it'll be:

1. Essendon - McCluggage
2. Brisbane - Brodie
3. Brisbane - (Bowes bid) McGrath
4. Fremantle/Whoever ends up with this pick - Ainsworth
5. Gold Coast - Bowes
6. Carlton - SPS

Pick 6 is where I think the potentially elite talent ends. There's some potentially top 10 on list players like Clarke etc in the teens that would help us but my 'not for trade' pick threshold is at pick 6.

I'm somewhat hopeful that, if they do get one, it will be at the end of the first round.

If they ended up with 2 + 3, though, I don't think they'd be taking two mids.

Rockliff, Zorko, Beams, Hanley, Rich, Robinson, Bell, Mathieson, Keays, Jansen. Not a bad cohort of mids.

Could see them taking a chance on Marshall or even English at 3.

Essendon - McLuggage
GC - Bowes (matching bid from Brisbane)
Brisbane - Brodie
Brisbane - English/Marshall
Freo - SPS/Marshall
Carlton - SPS/Ainsworth/McGrath

Great point Zee, I hope you're right. Brisvegas getting a PP will strengthen our case next year in the reasonably likely event that we drop back down the ladder.

Is Cam Ellis-Yolman worth a shot?

Sorry, carry on..

I would give up pick 5 for reiwoldt. 4 to 5 good years left in him. Also, get harvey, marchbank, petrie and dal santo. Throw in green, barlow and George horlin smith then have a crack at a premiership next year. Why not!? We must do this now!!

Possible team.
Simpson marchbank plowman
Docherty weitering tuohy
Harvey Barlow Gibbs
Sos petrie c.curnow
Green reiwoldt sumner
Kreuzer Murphy cripps

Bench. Curnow. GHS. Bryne. McKay.

Tell me that team can't win a flag?

Surely NOT SERIOUS! :straining:

Oh BTW you forgot Morabito :D

Hopefully they don't get a PP. They don't deserve one zee.

If Brisbane go with an AFL endorsed coach...which they almost certainly will, you could just about guarantee a priority pick at the pointy end of the draft. Gil has already seeded it.

Meanwhile we finished last in 2015, and both the 17 and 18 ranked teams accounted for us comfortably in recent weeks.

There are so many ways the AFL can help that isn't to the disadvantage of every other team.

I'd love it if we could get our hands on Billy Hartung. Hard as a cats head, runs all day, only snag is he has a contract for next year.

Anyone surprised at the length of extension for Jack? Thought we would have wanted longer than that (not that I expect he'll go anywhere).

Not really, actually.

Would probably be a bad look to sign up your son to a 7-year deal after a handful of games :P

This way he's shown his commitment, and by the time he's hitting his straps after close to 50 games he'll be able to negotiate a fair value, long-term deal.

Think that's debatable Aph. That club is every bit as putrid as ours was when we received one.

I guess so. I would have liked to have seen another year on it but I guess it's not that big a deal.

Bingo Jimmae

None of these guys are worth stand alone picks, so if we specifically want any of them, trade out our 3rd/4th round picks.

Rest assured, at 2.29pm on last Friday of Draft Week, they'll bend over.
I mentioned pick 23 and our third for Stewart (uninjured), Barrett (uninjured), Marchbank (injured), Steele (injured), and Ahern (injured). We get 2 uninjured B grade players and 3 injured potential A grade players. Could be a big win for us.

Marchbank for pick 5 is not happening unless we get more.

Besides look at the clubs circling
Collingwood - can't trade 1st rd - out
Essendon - Pick 1 out. can trade 1st next yr but only if not included in an omera deal
St Kilda - Threat is they trade pick 10 or next 1 st but that will be in play for steele as well

touhy for north 1st will only happen if we add 2nd rd or a player.
offering a 4 yr deal with extra coin tells me north is desperate for a half back

Is all that "gospel" or speculating ??

it might rate him as that but it still means we're picking at 41 instead of at 11.

11 this year is more like 15-16 thanks to academy selections.

The odds of you getting 100+ quality games out of a player that'll feature in multiple top 10 finishes in your BnF with that pick (pick 11) are decent. Around 70 percent going by past drafts.

The odds of you getting the same by trading for Touhy are 100 percent.

Scotts going the same route as his brother from the looks of it, and getting in as many 25-28 year old players as he can to bolster the side you currently have and keep your window open another few years.

Geelong did it last year with Henderson, Danger etc.

If Brisbane get a PP, it will either be #1 or #19, they won't be chucking one in at #3.
