I have no problem with either team in the SANFL, I'd prefer them to be here than elsewhere, I just think there's a better model that's needed to be used but don't let facts get in the way of your snipe.

It used to be that if the umpires weren't noticed then they were doing a good job. This was almost a badge of honour for a good umpire.

The old school umpires (apart from douches like John Russo) understood that the players were the main attraction. Don't get in the way, let it flow as much as possible, don't impose their personality.

The attitude has swung 180 degrees. Everyone knows their names, numbers on their backs, miked up so we can hear them. Was it done to raise the profile of umpiring so they attract more people to the role? Is it a respect thing - they're not faceless, they've got names so wind down the abuse?

Don't get bothered if they have a name or a face. I guess they are representing the judiciary of the laws of the game and that's a massive grey area, so good luck to them. Can't say nothing about them if you're an official though. Bevo can't say it's disgusting and what have you.

A really powerful moment in the MLB where the Marlins were honouring their pitcher who died on the weekend by wearing his uniform, a teammate takes the pitch from the opposite side (like fernandez did), wearing Fernandez's helmet, then hits a homerun.

That's the only part I saw and it had all the players in the room with Hinkley and KT saying it wasn't good enough and they needed to think over the summer what they want to achieve. Big ****kng deal.

Well AFL website has Swans v Dogs so assume it's based on end of minor round

The Swans rightly should be the hosts of the GF. They have always ranked higher than the Dogs regardless that they lost their first final.

Determining the host based on who won a certain final is ridiculous given the games and fixtures are based on ladder position, team location, game host location and last but not least......what the media want.

Dogs hosting the GF would top off what we all know about the Vic centric way of managing a so called national competition.

Just read an article about the Cronulla Sharks who are playing in the NRL GF this weekend. Jeez I reckon Essendon must be even more kicking themselves. While the Dank dramas took their toll over there it has steeled them in the short term to the point where they are playing off for the title not 2 years from players being suspended.

Essendon on the other hand is 2 more years further down the track, the players are more scarred, older and the AFL has the GWS coming through like a steamtrain. In reality their best chance to pinch a flag was this year and next like us and the Bullies as their list at the time was in a similar state. So on top off all the other crap they may well of cost themselves a premiership
