If we decide to make more deals with GWS at the end of the year one I think we should look at is Paul Ahern. Was a top 10 draft pick in Petracca and Brayshaws year, he's an outside goal kicking mid who provides run and carry, from what i've heard he possesses great pace and elite endurance. Is under an injury cloud though after rupturing his acl earlier this year but that seems to be his only injury history and he hasn't played a game, but I reckon this could decrease his value and we could get him cheap. With GWS needing points for their academy players we could probably snag him for a bunch of second and third rounders. He is contracted until the end of next year, is from Melbourne, and with GWS' abundance of outside mids such as whitfield, kelly, and scully I reckon they could be willing to give him off.

I'm an optimistic person generally, so I'm taking Freos offer to Jenkins that they are cooling on Hogan (Article on HS website saying there is an interstate club offering him a large 4 year deal).

Ive made mention about it in the Hogan's thread (has been back in perth since the weekend) what should we realistically be looking at getting for him if he wants to go home? (personally i think he's gone)

To my eye two deals:

Neale + 1st rounder

Neale + Weller + 2nd rounder (perhaps 3rd rounder, 2nd round might be a bit rich).

Slight leaning to option 2. Im not interested in any of their crappy talls... Taberner etc

I think that's under's for Hogan, he's the best young key forward in the competition. If we trade Hogan we'd want a forward in return which Freo have none and the only forward that looks like going top 5 in the draft this year is Ben Ainsworth who is a 179cm small forward. Similar to Prestia do we really need another inside mid like Neale aswell, I heard that he wants to go to Adelaide so maybe we could do a three way deal that could land us Jenkins from Adelaide, Freos first round pick which looks like it'll be a top 5 pick which can land us Ainsworth or a defender like Berry (191cm intercept marking, rebounding defender), and i'd be wanting lachie weller aswell. So Adelaide receive Neale and lose Jenkins, Freo receives Hogan and loses Neale, first round draft pick, weller, and we receive top 5 pick, jenkins, and weller. Imo we may still be wanting more so maybe an additional piece from Adelaide would complete the deal.

No idea about this years draft but i like the way you think with getting another team involved and finding ourselves another key forward.

I think he'll stay, but if he was to go I'd ask for Freos 2016/2017 1st rounders and Weller. He is worth that easily.

Id want a established gun as part of any deal. As much as i trust Taylor, draft picks can still go to shit. A first rounder needs to be included as part of any package as well though (especially for this years draft since we dont have one)

The 3 way trade that Jeremy Allen suggested actually makes a lot of sense, but that would have to factor in the Crows wanting to deal as well. I rate Weller and think he'd add a lot to our up and coming midfield. Certainly is a stronger deal than my idea, but we need the Crows to come to the table.

Hopefully in 4-5 months time this is irrelevant and he has signed a 5 year extension.

Prestia hasn't been good in about two years and we have a surplus of midfielders with similar potential (plus output from a number of them). No point stacking our squad with the same type of player.

Id want at least two picks that add up to less than 9. Freo dont have a second this year i dont think. Which makes it hard for them to achieve that (by trading other bits). None of their gettable players really stand out for me - or are young enough.

Saints seem really interested in Weller, so he could go there for their first, and that might put the picks I'd want in the frame... then we could pick boost with GC or GWS again to get the best two picks we can.

Two more picks under 10 gives us 9 gun young players added across 4 years (that's a very, very good core in the same age bracket). Given the success of our current recruiting team Id back them to make them count.

Not in the best 22 in the moment. trying him in some different positions in the VFL. But his future at Melbourne seems a bit in doubt considering he's a restricted free agent. I like Grimes and i'd like to think he still has potential to fill at us, but it seems doubtful
