Yeah I know was having a little dig at Dylan12.

Schache was the obvious choice and the safest of all bets. No one could have predicted this would happen but like you said we have Hipwood and hopefully what we get for Schache we can turn into some much needed midfield depth.
hmmmm glad I was a little wrapped up in the other thread to bite on that at the time.

Because I did want to make the comment that SPS was supposedly a big Lions fan, but wanted to go to a Melbourne club.

I do wonder how much of a difference it makes recruiting a player who was supposedly a fan of the club. Especially as it applies to Brisbane. The kids in the most recent and upcoming drafts were literally young kids when Brisbane was winning it's three peat.

That has never been conclusively established. I think a comment along the lines of "I model my game on Simon Black" may have got legs to encourage Lions supporters to read into it as "I am a Lions supporter."
Heck I liked the Lonie brothers it didn't make me a Pie supporter. :)

This time last year there was a poster saying his cousin ran in to sps at party, etc, etc.

I don't think it gets any more conclusive than at 2:10 of this video champ. SPS definitely is/was a Lions supporter.

We were never going to take Petrevski-Seton over McCluggage, whether that was a mistake or not will not be known for a few years. SPS looking very impressive for Carlton though.

Not sure drafting a fan of the Lions means they are any more likely to stay with us, players are pretty good at separating their fandom from who they play for usually.

Usually on draft night.

Seems logical that it's included, but we all know how the AFL operates.

Woukd be interesting if the club has any formal communication from the AFL around the trade time , it obviously dramatically changes the trade value to us.

So did Schache apparently...
I never really saw it as him wanting to come to the lions. Moreso just that he was happy to come if selected. And that he didnt see himself as a flight risk because being from Country Victoria he would have to leave home no matter where he was selected.

Can't believe we could have had Clayton Oliver who was a Lions supporter and we ended up with Schache.
Trade schache for Oliver it's possible.
As Hogan might be thinking of leaving back to WA to be with family as with all that's gone on with the poor bloke in the last couple months.

Would happily do that trade but I can't see Oliver leaving Melbourne now.
