They will need to find a first rounder as they have no currency with draft picks. Who are they trading out?

If its a player then, surely as our cap space sucks, they would need to throw in his salary. They will need to find a first rounder as they have no currency with draft picks. Who are they trading out?

Bigfooty or bartender at his local pub. It remains possible that Dev leaves, but I don't reckon Stevo's got a clue. Just throwing darts - has learnt from his time in the business to be 100% confident, no matter what is said.I wonder who Stevo's source is.
Since Ralph is quoting the manager as he's staying, then someone will look stupid at the end of it.Bigfooty or bartender at his local pub. We are allowed to trade our 2018 1st rounder if we want.
Motlop is a restricted free agent and i expect he will go although i doubt we will get a 1st round compensation pick it will be likely to be end of first round (pick 19) or a pick after our second rounder at best.
I expect we will have a few fringe type players leave because they are struggling to get games but i doubt you will have either the need (your side is very strong) or the cap room to take them.
I suspect any trade between our clubs for devon will be picks only.
You traded your 1st rounder this year (Tuoey deal) and in 2016 (Henderson deal) are you able to do that for three consecutive years? If so the AFL is a joke and not learning from the perils seen in the NFL.
There is a rule on not trading too many first round picks. It kicks in in 2019.

With respect to players I agree as there is nothing on your list other than the obvious untouchables that we would want.
LOL how thoughtful of the AFL.
But they were happy to rush through stripping Albury.
Trading a 1st rounder three years in a row is absurd.
To be fair hawthorn traded a first rounder or end of first rounder every year between 2009-2014 so we are not doing anything that's without precedent.
I agree the afl rule changes on the run though are ridiculous no argument from me there.
Back to smith in particular, intetested on your idea as to what sort of pick or player you would value him at?

I agree completely about Himmelberg but flinch at rating him over Smith. After watching the last few weeks I would put the signature of Harry Himmelberg above Hopper, Kennedy and even Smith.
This kid has super composure, time, balance and always keeps his feet. I rate him higher than Tommo on what I've seen and believe he will definitely establish himself as best 22 if we lock him in.
Aside from that he is really mobile and can play forward and kick goals.
Our List Manager is mad if he doesn't sign him up now.

The problem is with Davis, Corr and Tommo hoing very well I can see him playing NEAFL and getting frustrated.
We cant carry too many high value tall backs and have Mohr and Finlauson as presumably cost effective backup.
Just a left field idea, what about trade one of the top three and retain him on a good wicket. It gives us a better age profile and I think he will be great value in time.
I expect some backlash and I'll just say I wouldn't be kicking any of them out against their will, if they want to stay so be it.
I can see it could easily be, just wondering if thete's a way to avoid it.If he goes it will be another Marchbank scenario.
I'm hearing SoS is a fan but Hopper is his preferred target.
Dangerous strategy backending contracts in the expectation things will be better at some point in the future. After the interview with Kelly post match im starting to think our money offer is the problem and when a guy like him sees the club recruit Griffen, Deledio and perhaps SJ then there is probably a point. If the cap is tight I think its worth looking at backloaded 5 year deal so the big $$$ come into effect after a few retirements. $1mill a year is too much but its time to look at keeping who is most important.

Talk to any old Hawks fan about Nick Holland. It could work but if the plan goes wrong it could screw your list management badly.
I'm not sure you'd get a contract like that past the AFL these days. Not sure how process scrutiny works though. It's all discussion and opinion. Just mentioning the risk of having a huge obligation and no player.Im looking at Mumford, Shaw, Griff, Lids, SJ all being gone in the next 2 years so we should have a bit to work with then. Deledio trade has backfired if we cant afford to retain a Kelly because of it.
