No chance of that happening....

Should a player withdraw his services if he has not been recontracted by the end of August?

Works both ways

It's just being professional and getting on with things. If a player is going you utilise their services for as long as you can, particularly when they are a difference maker.

If a club wants to throw the toys out of the cot they only risk getting other players offside because ultimately the playing group are mates and understand from time to time blokes decide to leave.

As long as guys give 100% whilst they are wearing orange and charcoal I'm happy for them to keep getting a game for us if they are the best man for the job.

When you guys play against Geelong.

Assuming cogs is back, would he go to Selwood or Danger? Or bring someone else and tag both?

Maybe they see him as a fait accompli, good to hear him so positive, I do think he will be a gun, called him as going to be better than Hopper when drafted and haven't changed my mind at all.
Would love for him to stay
Id have him over Hopper (sorry Hopper) if it came down to one or the other.

He does seem to have more strings to the bow than Hopper, but I'd still take Hopper over him for the time being. :)

It will certainly make the night more interesting, but may deaden the trade period a bit?

Trade period is about players changing teams (generally). The pick only trades are a minority. This will be the other way around - it'd be pick trades only.

For most teams for sure, historically though we have been heavily involved in pack trading, I like the move just musing it's impact on the rest of team management strategies.

Watching the Allies vs SA under 18 game.

Whoever gets Pick 1 next year will have a nice player in Jack Lukosius....WOW!

The Academy kids didn't really do it for me. Spargo didn't play because of injury.

I watched the second half, there were some good things.. match report in the link below

Lukosius was outstanding, I did like this bit though..

Strong-bodied inside midfielder Nick Shipley led the stats sheet for the Allies with 21 possessions, seven clearances, six tackles and three marks, displaying his strong work ethic and smooth kicking action.

The Allies (& particularly Giants academy) kids appeared to show some in patches, but in comparison to SA, too patchy to be highly rated. Nevertheless, because of our starting concessions we tend to not have those second & third round ranked players, so given how weak the draft is this year I'm not too concerned if that's what we end up with. We just need to not lose too many of the first team! If we can take Shipley & Powell, that's Western Sydney & Canberra lads who can keep the academy flag flying from the local development perspective, and they have enough potential for the development coaches to work with.
