Have i missed something. What did MDB do?

He's saying MDB seems to be a good personality fit. Maybe you're misreading it?

2 year $800,000 offer in front of Hopper? They didn't f*ck about with that. Way overs IMO. Smith offered $500,000 will be increased if Kelly leaves.
As per Ralph in this morning's HUN on-line edition.

I really struggle with those contract numbers. I mean, there is no source given and hoppers contract seems massive compared to his output. Thats similar to what Daniher is rumored to be on and he is a key pillar of their team. Baffling

I did. My day has been going since 1am.
Sorry guys/girls and MDB.

I think in the big picture fans tend to underrate defensive mids. With us that includes guys like Matt Kennedy and De Boer currently. One thing that stood out to my eye on Saturday was De Boer showed showed great anticipation in when to back his teamates and opt to block or shepherd and when to get into the contest.

Totally agree. I think Saturday was his best game for us. Taclking pressure was huge and his decision making and ball use was largely very good

I'm taking Hopper's numbers with a pinch of salt. It's rumoured that what we're offering Kelly as well, and it makes no sense to me to offer those two the same.

Any thoughts on if the club will look to trade in an experienced AFL player this year or just look at the draft?
Johnson and Mzungu to retire* and then thinking 2 of the OOC players leave will it create a lack of experienced depth at the club
I can see the club keeping MDB on the senior list and then rookie Reid and Lloyd again and maybe Rookie Simpson if they draft Richards which would be 5 rucks on the list although 2 would be yet to debut
I would like to see the club look at a experienced midfield option but it does depend on cap space and and what they would be after but a player similar to MDB or Mzungu would be useful. 100 games experience and an ability to play inside and out and then happy to play reserves as well

There are always players like Mzungu who are happy with one more year, even if that year is mostly playing in the seconds.

Lets see who gets cut, and then see who will be a fit.

My bet is 800 *over* two years, not 800 for each of two years.

That makes more sense and is high for some of the second contracts but with the increased SC

Also i think Matt Shaw is a whipping boy for the Suns and Heath might have something to say if the club tried to recruit another Shaw although not related

I'm not even remotely interested in us targeting Shaw... there guy can barely get a game in the Suns team for a reason

Could Blaine Boekhurst and Kristian Jacksh be worth a look at if they are delisted? Jacksh goes good at VFL level and so too does Boekhurst. If Carlton are going to be active in trading in players this year, I would not be adverse to looking at getting these guys in the door as DFA's. Boekhurst is better than De Boer and the Goo.

That would be ironic! GWS scooping up Carlton rejects!

I think the additions of De Boer (mainly) and Muzungu (to a point) show just how valuable mature body depth can be, as long as they can play a role when (if) promoted. I think Muzungu has been the worst of that duo and even he has played a role to a point this year, although having noticeable skill errors in his game.
Boekhurst would definitely offer us better skills than Muzungu if injuries kill us again next year. I also think that Jacksh would be a decent depth defender and at that age where he would not be thrown around by the gorillas. It's obvious he isn't a forward, 3 goals in his career isn't a great strike rate.

No!

Jaksch has done ok in the VFL this year a few bags of 4 and I think he has been both kpd and kpf but he is a chance to stay on the list next year depending on Casboult not contracted Alex Silvangi possibly retire and Rowe recovering from an acl he would be a mature depth option
But can't see either of those as an option and it is all hypothetical because we still don't know what the OOC players have planned
I think if Smith moves on I think the club could look at a replacement unless the club feels Taranto would be suited to that position

There's a pretty good argument that GWS kept the good kids.

Note Dees fans aren't ecstatic about Dom Tyson, and Pies fans are split over the ball use skills of Adams and Treloar.
I think on both accounts there hindsight has been 20/20 rather than we foresaw a talent deficit
